Beautiful Princess Warriors

Beautiful Princess Warriors Beautiful Princess Warriors is a ministry for girls ages 6-14 years old.

The purpose of this ministry is to bring young girls, from different churches, different neighborhoods, different socio-economic statuses together to worship God, form friendships across churches/religions, in order to promote unity in Christ and love for all people. It is our mission to mentor young girls into strong women of God through the building of positive relationships that promote a healthy self-esteem, and give them the confidence to walk with grace.

We had a great time talking about makeup and fashion. I had everyone wear red which was fun. Even the ones that didn't wear red sported red lipstick--cute! I showed the girls several pictures of young girls their age in different outfits, some appropriate and some not. They had fun yelling out APPROPRIATE! NOT APPROPRIATE! The other people in Tropical Smoothie got a real kick out of it. They were very opinionated. LOL They all have a good sense of what is right and wrong and age appropriate in fashion and makeup.

Sunday's meeting was so insightful. I talked to the girls about clothing, style, and makeup. I presented them with pictures of teens and preteens, some dressed modestly and some dressed, well, not so modest. It was interesting to see how the girls feel about "daisy dukes," as they called them, the appropriate length for skirts and dresses, "holey" jeans, way out makeup, off-the-shoulder shirts, and accessories. The girls have a very good sense of what's appropriate and what's not when it comes to fashion and makeup. They are all so different, so uniquely beautiful, and I honestly think they have a good understanding of TRUE BEAUTY. My wish is to stand fast with you parents and help them to work through the years where media and peers often challenge their beliefs, their confidence, their worth, and self-esteem. Together we can encourage them to see themselves as beautiful, worthy, confident young ladies. I'll be uploading a few pictures from our meeting tomorrow so make sure to check back. As always, I'm open to feedback, guidance, and prayers as I move forward with this ministry. This is not something I felt equipped to do, but it is something I was called to do. I go forward with faith that God has equipped me, and that He will lead me in a direction that will help these girls in some way.

I wanted to let everyone know that we won't be meeting again until January. Enjoy the holidays everyone and I'll see you all again the last Sunday in January. BTW....I'm VERY EXCITED about our January and February meetings. January's theme/lesson is DRESS UP---more to come on that later, but the girls will be asked to invite/bring their moms or aunts or other special lady along to share in the fun. February's theme is CINDERELLA....more to come about what that means, but the girls will get to bring their dads, uncles, or another special man along to share in the lesson/event. Please share this information with the girls and let them know what they have to look forward to in the coming months.

I have a new book I ordered for BPW. I'm excited to see what's inside about raising modern day princesses. I'll share the good bits with everyone as I find the time to read.

We had a blast today talking about other countries, cultures, traditions, currency, and fashion. The lesson was about staying true to your beliefs, but loving people that have different beliefs--respecting our differences and embracing out commonalities. This was a very fun day. I'm feeling so blessed by the things the girls shared. They are wise beyond their years. They teach me so much.

Our next BPW meeting will be focused on having STRENGTH in personal beliefs and TOLERANCE for the beliefs of others. America is one of the most diverse places in the world. I believe in loving people from all walks of life, all cultures, all ethnicities, and even all religions. I feel it is important to expose children to people of other cultures and teach them to respect their differences. Of course this doesn't mean giving up their own beliefs. It just means we come together as people, not making fun of, not telling telling them that what they believe is wrong, not drawing lines in the sand and fighting over differences, BUT......finding and celebrating out commonalities. In my travels and experiences I've found that being respectful and open to learning about other cultures, traditions, and beliefs has open the door for me to share my culture, traditions, and beliefs with them. I know this may seem a little heavy for such young girls, but this message is addressed to the parents. My conversations with the girls regarding this topic will be lighter, but still address the serious aspect of remaining strong in your beliefs. I've shared the article below for further insight. I'm reaching out to all of you and asking for your thoughts on the subject. All feedback is welcome as usual.

Teaching tolerance is important - the differences that come from living in a melting pot enrich our culture, bringing new ideas and energy. And people who are open to differences have more opportunities in education, business, and so many other ways.
