VBS Work Day- Tonight at Prattville Church of Christ!

We're putting in some work to make VBS amazing, and we'd love your help! We'll be working in two sessions today:

2:00-4:00PM
6:00-8:00 PM

VBS is just 10 days away, so every set of hands makes a huge difference. Come for one session, both, or whatever you can give. All is appreciated!

We are keeping a close eye on the weather and any potential for severe storms tonight. Please do the same and plan accordingly. Your safety always comes first, whether you're able to join us or need to stay home, we completely understand.

Wednesday Night Summer Series-- June 17, 2026

I want to share a praise. I had my regular follow-on checkup for my leukemia recovery. It's been 4 years now that I've been in remission. Today the report was excellent. All my lab numbers are great.

I appreciate still so many that prayed for Lynne and I on this journey. Those prayers truly meant a lot to me.

I also appreciate the many cards I received. I still have them in a basket in my study. Every now and then I pull one at random to read. It always brings my emotions to the surface.

On the first day of treatment as I was preparing to go to the hospital, I knelt by my bed in a few moments of privacy and told our Lord that I did not know what was going to be the outcome but that no matter what, I would glorify Him. In His love and grace, He has given me countless opportunities to do so. It's hard to imagine but leukemia was a gift from Him to draw me closer to Him and to be able to help others. It has opened doors I never expected. My podcast, my teaching, writing, volunteering, and spiritual growth all stem from His grace.

So indeed, to Him be the glory in all things.

You may have noticed a new face appearing on our page recently.

Meet Shepherd Sam.

Sam is a simple country shepherd who enjoys God's creation, a good cup of coffee, and spending time in God's Word. He isn't famous. He isn't flashy. He doesn't claim to have all the answers. But through everyday moments, he reminds us of timeless biblical truths.

Each week, "Shepherd Sam Says" will share a simple thought, a smile, and a Scripture designed to encourage us in our daily walk with our Master. Sometimes the message will make us laugh. It will always make us think and appreciate our Lord. My prayer is that every panel will point us toward Christ and remind us that God's Word still speaks to everyday life.

In a world filled with noise, arguments, and discouragement, Shepherd Sam offers something different: a quiet reminder that God's truth is simple, His grace is sufficient, and His faithfulness never changes.

The response to Sam's very first appearance has been overwhelming. Thank you for the kind comments, reactions, and for sharing him with your friends. I'm grateful that so many of you have welcomed this gentle shepherd into our Facebook feed.

I hope you'll look forward to a new Shepherd Sam panel each week. Feel free to share them with someone who could use a smile, a little encouragement, or a reminder of God's promises.
