Celebrate Recovery- of the River Region hosted by Journey Church

Celebrate Recovery- of the River Region hosted by Journey Church CR is a biblical and Christ centered program that helps us overcome our hurts, hang-ups, and habits.

Celebrate Recovery is a biblical and balanced program that helps us overcome our hurts, hang-ups, and habits. It is based on the actual words of Jesus rather than psychological theory. 20 years ago, Saddleback Church launched Celebrate Recovery with 43 people. It was designed as a program to help those struggling with hurts, habits and hang-ups by showing them the loving power of Jesus Christ thr

ough a recovery process. Celebrate Recovery has helped more than 17,000 people at Saddleback, attracting over 70% of its members from outside the church. Eighty-five percent of the people who go through the program stay with the church and nearly half serve as church volunteers. A wide variety of hurts, hang ups and harmful behaviors are represented at Celebrate Recovery. Examples include dependency on alcohol or drugs, po*******hy, low self-esteem, need to control, depression, anger, co-dependency, depression, fear of rejection, fear of abandonment, perfectionism, broken relationships, and abuse.

Eeekkk! I’m soooo excited! Come join us!!!

The weekend is almost here.

Before the schedules fill up and the distractions take over, set aside one night to celebrate the God who has been faithful through it all.

We'll spend the evening lifting our voices, celebrating His goodness, and giving praise to the One who deserves it all.

“Gradually, as we become more God-centered than self-centered, our despair turns to hope.”

What a glorious thing to have hope! Before coming to Celebrate Recovery, many of us lived lives of utter hopelessness. We believed we were destined to die from our disease.

Many members speak of being on a “pink cloud” their first months in the program. We’ve stopped using, made some friends, and life looks promising. Things are going great. Then reality sets in. Life is still life—we still lose jobs, our partners still leave us, friends still die, we still get sick. Abstinence is no guarantee that life will always go our way.

When the reality of life on its own terms sets in, we turn to our Higher Power and remember that life happens the way life happens. But no matter what occurs in our recovery we need not despair, for there is always hope. That hope lies in our relationship with our Higher Power.

This relationship, as expressed by the thought in our text, develops over time: “Gradually, we become more God-centered.” As we rely more and more on the strength of our Higher Power, life’s struggles don’t have to drag us into the sea of despair. As we focus more on God, we focus less on ourselves.

I will rely on my Higher Power. I will accept that, regardless of what happens, my Higher Power will provide me with the resources to live with it...💖

Join us on Monday June 8, 2026 John will share about Lesson 1 Denial. It’s not just a river in Egypt. It’s a beginning to a better life. CR Kids and CR Students will be available to allow complete family healing. On lesson nights we celebrate your success with Chips to mark progress. Dinner at 6:15 provided by Fat Boys BBQ, we greatly appreciate their generosity. Come see what the Lord can do!

We don’t have to do it any better than we can – ever.

Do our best for the moment, and then let it go. If we have to redo it, we can do our best in another moment, later.

We can never do more or better than we are able to do at the moment. We punish ourselves and make ourselves feel crazy by expecting more than our reasonable best for now. Striving for excellence is a positive quality.
Striving for perfection is self-defeating.

Did someone tell us or expect us to do or give or be more? Did someone always withhold approval? There comes a time when we feel we have done our best. When that time comes, let it go.

There are days when our best is less than we hoped for. Let those times go too. Start over tomorrow. Work things through, until our best becomes better.Empowering and complimenting ourselves will not make us lazy. It will nurture us and enable us to give, do, and be our best.

Today, I will do my best, and then let it go. God, help me stop criticizing myself so I can start appreciating how far I’ve come...💞
