THE POWER OF WORDS: PART 2 🔥

Your circumstances may be loud, but they don’t get to steer your life.

James 3 reminds us that a massive ship can be driven by fierce winds, yet a small rudder determines its direction. In the same way, our words have the power to set the course of our lives.

So, what are you speaking?

Are you rehearsing fear, defeat, lack, and what you see? Or are you speaking life, truth, faith, and the Word of God?

Pastor Jay reminded us yesterday that words are seeds, and seeds produce fruit. If destructive words have helped create destructive cycles, it’s time to plant something different.

Speak life. Speak the Word. Command peace in the middle of chaos. Praise while you’re under attack. And stop allowing what you SEE to become louder than what God SAID.

There is a difference between discernment and condemnation. There is a difference between holiness and self-righteousness.

This morning, Pastor Jay confronted a spirit of judgment that leaves no room for what the Gospel makes possible: repentance, grace, restoration, and transformation.

We do not excuse sin. We do not overlook unrepentant sin in leadership. But neither do we pick up stones against people Jesus has forgiven, restored, and called.

Galatians 6:1 reminds us that when someone is overtaken in sin, those who are spiritual should seek to restore them in a spirit of gentleness.

At Great Oaks, we will protect a culture where people can BE FREE BY KNOWING JESUS. A place where truth is preached, sin is confronted, repentance is honored, grace is extended, and restored people are allowed to walk in what God has called them to do.

Before we reach for a stone, may we first allow God to search our own hearts.

Holiness does not require us to become merciless. Jesus is full of grace AND truth. His Church should look like Him.

We watched people stand, kneel, bow, wave flags, lift their hands and simply make room for Jesus. Different expressions. One focus. Jesus.

And we’re already expectant for what God will do when we gather again.

🔥 YOU ARE BLESSED: THE POWER OF WORDS

What are you speaking?

“Death and life are in the power of the tongue…” — Proverbs 18:21 NKJV

Your words matter. They can build or tear down. They can speak life into a season or keep rehearsing what God is trying to bring you through.

This week, we were reminded that faith doesn’t just believe. Faith speaks.

“I believed and therefore I spoke…” — 2 Corinthians 4:13 NKJV

God didn’t look at darkness and simply describe what He saw. He spoke what He desired.

“Let there be light.” 💡

So maybe it’s time to stop repeating the language of the season you’re trying to leave.

Stop rehearsing:
“I’ll always struggle with this.”
“Nothing ever changes.”
“My family has always dealt with this.”
“I’ll never get out of this.”

Instead, let your words come into agreement with what God has said.

Speak life.
Speak faith.
Speak blessing.
Speak the Word.
And when circumstances tell a different story, believe God’s report and speak accordingly.

Your season does not have to become your cycle.

Last Sunday, we worshiped. We surrendered. We prayed. We watched people respond to the presence of Holy Spirit. And this Sunday, we get to gather and do it all over again.

Maybe you need prayer.
Maybe you’re hungry for more of God.
Maybe you’ve been looking for a church to call home.
Or maybe you simply know you need to get in the room.

There is room for you.

Yesterday, Pastor Jay continued the You Are Blessed series with a powerful reminder:

Unity is only as good as what it’s unified around.

Psalm 133 shows us that there is a commanded blessing connected to unity, but Genesis 11 reminds us that not all unity is godly unity.

Godly unity is alignment with His Word, His order, and His purpose.

We are one Body with many different members, gifts, backgrounds, and assignments, but every part matters. God has placed each member where He desires, and no part can say to another, “I don’t need you.”

Unity looks like:

One voice.
One vision.
One outcome.

It means rejecting gossip, comparison, offense, division, and personal agendas that pull the Body in different directions.

It means honoring the role God has given you, serving faithfully, caring when another member hurts, rejoicing when another member is honored, and allowing Christ to remain the Head of it all.

The question for us this week is simple:

What are we unified around?

May we be a Church unified around Jesus, His Word, His presence, and His purpose.

Midweek Check-In 💚

How are you… really?

Not the answer you give everyone else.
How is your heart?

Sometimes what we’re carrying isn’t just stress from work, raising kids, paying bills, or navigating life. Sometimes it’s a heaviness that quietly settles in and convinces us to stop praying, stop believing, or simply stop moving forward.

This Sunday, Pastor Jason reminded us that the spirit of heaviness is a burden that Jesus never intended for us to carry.

“Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” — Matthew 11:28

The good news?

The yoke can be broken through the authority of Jesus and the anointing of Holy Spirit. But we don’t stop there. We replace that heaviness with His presence, His Word, worship, and praise.

If this week has felt heavier than usual, don’t carry it alone.

Midweek Check-In 🤍

How’s your heart this week?

We’re still reflecting on what God did this past Sunday. From the first moments of worship, His presence filled the room as hearts were lifted toward heaven. There is something powerful about a church coming together with one purpose: to worship Jesus.

Pastor Jeremy’s message on the trap of offense was both timely and necessary. It challenged us to guard our hearts, refuse the enemy’s bait, and choose forgiveness, unity, and freedom. Sometimes the greatest victories aren’t won by fighting people; they’re won by refusing to let offense take root.

As we move through the rest of the week, take a moment to ask the Lord:

“Is there anything in my heart that You want to heal?”

Don’t carry into tomorrow what Jesus is ready to free you from today.

We’re already looking forward to gathering again this Sunday at 9:30 AM. Come expectant. Bring someone with you. We believe God is continuing to transform lives, restore hearts, and reveal His goodness.

Be free by knowing Jesus. ❤️

🚨 THE TRAP: OFFENSE 🚨

Jesus told us that offenses will come. The question isn’t if they’ll come… it’s how we’ll respond when they do.

Pastor Jeremy reminded us that offense isn’t just an emotion. It’s a trap. The enemy uses it to divide relationships, destroy unity, hinder the flow of God’s blessing, and distract us from our God-given purpose.

One offense can become bitterness.
Bitterness can become gossip.
Gossip can become division.
Division can begin to shape a destiny God never intended.

But throughout Scripture, we see another way.

Joseph chose forgiveness over revenge and stepped into his purpose.

David refused to retaliate against Saul and trusted God to be his Judge.

Hezekiah turned toward God instead of becoming offended, and his response changed the outcome.

Our response always determines what comes next.

Take a moment to reflect on a few of the truths shared in today’s message:

• Our response to offense reveals what’s happening in our hearts.
• Offense is an opportunity for spiritual growth.
• Choosing offense affects far more than one relationship. It can impact our future.
• Unity is worth protecting because where there is unity, the Lord commands His blessing.
• Truth may offend, but we are always called to speak it in love and respond in the Spirit.

As you swipe through these highlights, ask the Holy Spirit the same question we closed with today:

“Lord, how does what You spoke today apply to me?”

May we refuse the trap of offense, choose forgiveness over bitterness, guard the unity of the body, and trust God to fight the battles that were never ours to carry.

YOU ARE BLESSED

What if the blessing isn’t something we’re waiting on, but something God desires to flow through a body that is walking in unity?

This morning, Pastor Jason continued our You Are Blessed series with a powerful message about unity, order, and alignment in the Body of Christ.

Psalm 133 gives us a picture of how the blessing flows. The oil was poured upon the head of Aaron, flowed down his beard, and continued to the edge of his garments. The dew descended upon the mountains of Zion. And it was there, in the place of unity, that the Lord commanded the blessing.

The big idea?

Whenever God wants something to hit the whole body, He sends it to the Head first.

We are one body with many members, and Christ is the Head. When the Body comes together in unity, when we serve together, give together, pray together, worship together, and move together in obedience to God, we make room for what He desires to do through His Church.

This message challenged us to ask:

Are we contributing to the unity of the Body?
Are we serving where God has called us to serve?
Are we walking in obedience and alignment with His Word?
Are we willing to pray for one another and allow the gifts within the Body to flow?

There is power in a unified Church.

One body. Many members. Christ as the Head.

May we be a people who move as one, pray as one, worship as one, love as one, and obey as one.

Because where there is unity, the Lord commands the blessing.
