Student update from Julia serving in Senegal 🇸🇳
“Life in Senegal has been unlike anything I’ve experienced before. Hospitality is such a key part of the culture here to the point that not a week has gone by without a stranger inviting me to sit and have tea or coffee with them. However, it is also a culture that is deeply rooted in Islam and Animism, and it is hard for even new Christians to let go of those practices. The missionaries here in the city face the difficult challenge of reaching millions of unbelievers while also building up the local church and their ministries amidst a city full of darkness. Despite these challenges, it is so evident that God is at work in this city. While Alabama Super Summer’s team was here this past week, we were able to go out into the community and just sit with people, sharing parts of our testimonies, Bible stories, and the Gospel! Please pray that any seeds that were planted during those conversations would take root and that more believers would come after us to help them grow! Also pray for the ministries here at the Grand Yoff Baptist Center where I am working - that they would grow and that necessary renovations would be completed quickly so new ministries can begin!”
