About
KELVIN
Kelvin is a man with a story, best told by him:
“My story begins at the age of 12 when I
started competing in 80-meter hurdles. It
was then that I learned to fight for dreams,
despite the doubt of others. That determi
-
nation led me to state titles and national
competitions as a high school hurdler,
where I also won national and world junior
championships.
I later received a scholarship to compete for the University of
Arkansas, where I was a part of several national champions- hip teams. I knew everything about victory and nothing about
defeat until I was later confronted with the ghost of my past –
my absent father. My dad passed on much of his athletic abi- lity to me, but he wasn't around to teach me how to use it. This
made me feel like a failure for the first time in my life, and my
character began to fall. With no one to blame, I excused my
behavior or hid it from everyone who could help me, only to
begin a season of lying to myself about who I was. One lie led
to another, all in misguided effort to please others. I lost
everything including my integrity, the biggest defeat of all.
At the end of my rope, I finally returned to honesty - being
honest with others and honest with myself. During a 10-year
hiatus from track, I reclaimed my identity and discovered my
true purpose - to invest, inspire, invent, and influence.
My over-arching goal is to invest in
others. By sharing my story, I want to ins
pire others to live authentically above all
else. With my current business venture, I
want to influence the virtues of culture by
inventing craftsmanship-quality bags and
selling them for the benefit of future gene-
rations."
Kelvin contributes more than 10 years ex-
perience in mentorship, training, and rela-
tonal ministry. He has served as a missio-
nary in China and Thailand, and he has
mentored athletes at Georgia Tech, LSU,
and various schools. Now, back in his
home state of Louisiana, Kelvin's story has
only just begun. He serves the Baton Rouge
community as a motivational speaker to athletes and inner city youth. He is also a consultant within various nonpro-fits, which benefit from Kelvin's creative
ideas and his unwavering faith to bring
them to fruition.
