To Our Community Churches
Dear Congregations:
The Coalition of Powhatan Churches has launched a huge new project and we are asking for financial help as well as possible hands-on volunteers to see it through to completion.
As many of you know Powhatan County has very few rentals that a low-income household can afford. This is a tremendous problem with most of the clients that come to us for assistance. We are fortunate to have a very nice three-bedroom transitional house that we allow to be used when necessary for those who find themselves needing shelter. We have owned this home for about 25 years and it is nearly always in use. We are always on the lookout for a low rental place for these clients to move to once their time is up in our house.
We now have a client and his son in our house who need a low rental place to live. We found a place that is in great need of repairs. We accepted the challenge along with the owner’s permission with a rental agreement. Here is a list of costs that we face:

This is a lot but God has already sent us several miracles. We have been totally blessed to have Sheila Harrison, owner of Honor Construction, to oversee this project. Her crew has already begun the work with their labor being FREE! Our job is to cover the cost of the materials and any other labor costs that we need unless otherwise contributed.
So we are asking every church, individual, business, or organization to help us make this a reality and success. It is our desire to provide this client and his son a place to call home that he will be able to afford. I know we can do this but we need to lean on each of you for your support.
I am reminded what Jesus said about the tree that bears no fruit, and I hope that He cannot say that about the Coalition of Powhatan Churches nor any of our churches. It is the responsibility of us as Christians to accept what he has laid in our hands to accomplish. Please unite with us in this worthwhile endeavor. I believe that He has appointed us to this task and He reminds us that whatever we ask in His name it shall be given. We have already seen His presence in this project and know that He will remain beside us to the completion.
