Chris gets a front-row seat to people taking steps of faith and stepping into what God has for them, which is exactly why he loves what he does.

What’s your hidden talent? He’s really good at trivia
Most irrational fear? Birds pooping on him

Marty helps keep a lot of moving pieces moving around Burnt Hickory, but ask him the best part of his job, and he’ll tell you it’s the people, the staff, the church family, and getting to work alongside both.

Favorite beverage? Diet Dr Pepper. On a rough day, Diet Mountain Dew.
Early bird or night owl? Early bird. He’s the first one in the office every morning.
Currently reading? Theo of Golden

Describe your role in four words: Teacher. Leader. Strategist. Collaborator.
What’s your hidden talent? Clogging. His team once clogged for Jimmy Carter.
People would be surprised to know what about you? He majored in Accounting.
Favorite late-night snack? Currently finishing up the third carton of ice cream from all the recent family birthday celebrations.

Apparently the Godfrey family birthday season is a big one!

A church is a whole lot of people saying yes.
Yes to showing up. Yes to serving. Yes to teaching kids, leading worship, opening doors, praying for people, and helping others take their next step with Jesus.
Today, we got to say thank you to some of the leaders who keep saying yes, and take a moment as a church family to pray over them. Be on the lookout this week as we highlight our leadership and the chance to tell them thank you.
Grateful for our leaders. Grateful for our people. And grateful we get to do all of this together.

Sunday was a big day for Burnt Hickory as we celebrated, prayed, and marked the beginning of our new Worship Center.

THE OVERFLOW FROM SUNDAY
Some Sundays just need more than just one post!
Yesterday was a big day for our Burnt Hickory family as we officially broke ground on our new worship center!
We loved seeing different generations of our church family, along with our building partners take part in the groundbreaking. We prayed over those who will be doing the work and gathered in groups to pray for all that God has planned for this next chapter at Burnt Hickory.
And we couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate than bringing everyone together for our annual LifeGroup Tailgate! Plenty of food, football, laughter, and time spent with our church family
A lot to celebrate, a lot to be thankful for, and a lot to look forward to! ❤️

We’ll remember this Sunday for a long time. ❤️
We worshiped together, filled the front lawn with our church family, ate a whole lot of good food, represented our teams, and officially broke ground on our new Worship Center!
There’s a lot of dirt to move between here and there, but today we got to put shovels in the ground and celebrate what God has done, what He’s doing, and make room for the people who aren’t here yet.
Burnt Hickory, we’re ALL IN. And we’re just getting started. 🏗️❤️

We’ve got a Plan A, a Plan B, and a place for you either way.
This weekend marks the beginning of what’s next for Burnt Hickory, and we can’t wait to celebrate it together.

You Cannot Give What You Haven't Experienced

Maybe we’ve been reading 1 Corinthians 13 in the wrong order.
Before “love is patient” becomes a list of things we need to do better, what if we first recognize that this is how God loves us?
He is patient with us. He is kind to us. He loves us when we don’t deserve it.
And the more we experience His love, the more we have to give away. ❤️
