Most people have never read Ezekiel. And honestly — most of us are a little scared to. Flying creatures. Wheels covered in eyes. A valley full of dry bones. A temple with measurements nobody fully understands. It sounds more like science fiction than Scripture. Plus, it’s a really long book! But underneath all of it is one of the most searingly honest, pastorally tender, and personally relevant books in the entire Bible. It is the story of people who lost everything — and a God who refused to let that be the final word. He promises something that no amount of self-help can produce — a brand new heart.

School’s starting — and some Poway families who are struggling are starting it without the basics. GC2 Church i collecting school supplies in August for the Youth in Transition Program at PUSD, serving local families facing homelessness and food insecurity.

This is what it looks like to love people the way Jesus did — practically, tangibly, close to home. Will you be part of it? Items to bring on a Sunday:

Highlighters (various colors)
• Mechanical pencils
• Sharpies – fine tip, black
• Non-expired, individually wrapped
snacks (cookies, chips, crackers, etc.)
• Gas or food gift cards are helpful for
families who are struggling.
• Deodorant
• Microwavable food (such as oatmeal
cups, Mac and Cheese cups, ramen)
• Laundry pods
• Disinfecting wipes
• Sewing kits to patch clothing
• Boys/girl’s, men’s/women’s size socks

Most of us are better at accumulating doctrine than living it. We go to Bible study. We read good books. We know the right answers. And yet — Paul’s test in Titus 2 for sound doctrine isn’t gaining more knowledge. It’s how well doctrine has shaped an intergenerational disciple-making community. The measure of maturity isn’t how much doctrine you know. It’s how much it has changed you.
