Addiction has a way of overcoming folks.
Addiction is like the neighborhood bully who causes us to take the long way home.
Addiction is an overwhelming feeling; the feeling of hopelessness that makes you feel like you’ve been sucked so inescapably deeply underwater that the light of the surface is beginning to grow dimmer and dimmer.
I know that feeling.
I’ve done time in that prison cell.
You’re convinced that you are alone and unworthy, but Jesus has chosen this particular moment in your life to rescue you.
For over five years, I took my Dunamis Discipleship Ministry (DDM) curriculum to our local State prison and taught the inmates about Jesus and serving Him. I spent most of my life trying to disciple folks in my everyday life, but I found that the incarcerated inmates seemed more ready to accept scriptural truth and direction in their lives. Folks in the world or the worldly church were more interested in arguing or defending their personal beliefs. These incarcerated guys were much more eager to recognize that they were hopeless sinners and unable to help themselves.
Have you reached that point?
Has your life of addiction reached its bottoming out?
I realize that you have already tried several escape attempts, only to discover that you are powerless… but this time is different.
This time, I encourage you to take a mental pause. Surrender your will and come as you are; burdens and all. Jesus extends to you His invitation:

“28 Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
~Jesus~
Matthew 11:28-30

Jesus promises to never leave you alone.

It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.
Deuteronomy 31:8

If you feel like God is drawing you to Himself right now, rest assured that He is.

“No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him. And I will raise him up on the last day.”

John 6:44

If you stop what you’re doing right now and come to Jesus as you are, He will not turn you away.

37 All that the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never cast out. 38 For I have come down from heaven, not to do my own will but the will of him who sent me. 39 And this is the will of him who sent me, that I should lose nothing of all that he has given me, but raise it up on the last day. 40 For this is the will of my Father, that everyone who looks on the Son and believes in him should have eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day.”

John 6:37-40

When Jesus comes to live in your heart, you won’t be alone anymore. All this time, you’ve felt like you were all alone, but now you’re yoked with Christ.
The word, ‘yoke’ is referring to a farming tool that joined cattle together. It is wooden beam used between a pair of animals to enable them to pull together on a load when working in pairs.
Ask Jesus to come inside of you and willingly surrender the reigns (your will) to Him.

You will never walk alone in this life ever again.

Remember… this isn’t me (Kenny) making this promise to you. Instead, this is GOD’s promise to you.

“God is not man, that he should lie, or a son of man, that he should change his mind…”
Numbers 23:19

Trust Him.
Don’t hold back any longer.
Today is the first day of your salvation, dear friend.
Day one of your renewed life begins now.
Turn the volume down on the rest of your life and ignore all of its distractions.
Listen to the voice of Jesus and follow Him.
Nothing else matters in comparison.

I attended the AM church service at the East St Louis State Prison this morning and had an awesome meeting afterward with the Chaplain there.

I'll be launching a weekly class at the Prison called the 'Dunamis Discipleship Ministries' group in a few weeks. This has been a long time in the making, but everything is coming together in God's perfect timing, as it always does!

Psalm 40:1-17
I waited patiently for the LORD to help me, and he turned to me and heard my cry.

[2] He lifted me out of the pit of despair, out of the mud and the mire. He set my feet on solid ground and steadied me as I walked along.

[3] He has given me a new song to sing, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see what he has done and be amazed. They will put their trust in the LORD.

[4] Oh, the joys of those who trust the LORD, who have no confidence in the proud or in those who worship idols.

[5] O LORD my God, you have performed many wonders for us. Your plans for us are too numerous to list. You have no equal. If I tried to recite all your wonderful deeds, I would never come to the end of them.

[6] You take no delight in sacrifices or offerings. Now that you have made me listen, I finally understand - you don't require burnt offerings or sin offerings.

[7] Then I said, "Look, I have come. As is written about me in the Scriptures:

[8] I take joy in doing your will, my God, for your instructions are written on my heart."

[9] I have told all your people about your justice. I have not been afraid to speak out, as you, O LORD, well know.

[10] I have not kept the good news of your justice hidden in my heart; I have talked about your faithfulness and saving power. I have told everyone in the great assembly of your unfailing love and faithfulness.

[11] LORD, don't hold back your tender mercies from me. Let your unfailing love and faithfulness always protect me.

[12] For troubles surround me- too many to count! My sins pile up so high I can't see my way out. They outnumber the hairs on my head. I have lost all courage.

[13] Please, LORD, rescue me! Come quickly, LORD, and help me.

[14] May those who try to destroy me be humiliated and put to shame. May those who take delight in my trouble be turned back in disgrace.

[15] Let them be horrified by their shame, for they said, "Aha! We've got him now!"

[16] But may all who search for you be filled with joy and gladness in you. May those who love your salvation repeatedly shout, "The LORD is great!"

[17] As for me, since I am poor and needy, let the Lord keep me in his thoughts. You are my helper and my savior. O my God, do not delay.

Dunamis Discipleship Ministry is about striving to take up your cross and following Jesus.

We tried living our lives on our own terms. Epic fail. Repeat over and over. Failed over and over again.
We tried to clean up the mess that we made of things, but we found out that we really suck at it.

Are you ready for a life RESET?
Join us. DDM members aren’t confused about our desperate need for the mercy of Jesus. We are sinners, saved by grace alone, through faith alone in Christ alone.

DDM is NOT part of the traditional Americanized Christianity church.
The entire country is already loaded with people who gather every week to PLAY church. It’s like a virus and it just keeps spreading. It’s like a bunch of Stepford Wives Zombies, just fakeness everywhere you look.
Real followers of Jesus are striving to follow Him and His teaching. The real ones are trying to excel in their love for others as well. They aren’t self centered.

I’m not saying all churches fall in this category... but enough to be a called a plague. Vile. A stench in the nostrils of God. Prosperity ‘gospel’? Are you kidding me right now?!

Let everyone else be fake.
Let’s start something different for the ragamuffins who love Jesus and His Gospel more than money and the approval of man.

I consider myself just one beggar trying to show other beggars where I’ve found Bread and Water. I would truly be honored to help you find your way.
Inbox me if you can sense the Holy Spirit tugging on your heart.

Change our hearts, oh God. Make us more like Jesus.

Flashback to 2016!!
Good morning, DDM friends!
I'm super excited to see our friends at Southwestern Illinois Correctional Center this morning. Today is always the highlight of my week, to sit in that little chapel room and talk about how thankful we are for the grace of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!!!
I'm so thankful that our Great Physician's healing hand touched my heart so that they found no blockage in my heart this week! I'm free to participate in 'light duty', so I'm pretty sure that this qualifies in a physical sense, but on the Spiritual sense, it's a much different definition of 'Light'!!! We are the Light of the World, like a city on a hill, with the Light of Christ, shining brightly for all the world to see!!!
What a great honor and privilege we have to represent the King of Kings and Lord of Lords!!!
I need to head out now. Please pray for our Discipleship meeting, that lasts from 8am until 10am. Pray that the Name of Jesus would be lifted high and glorified! Pray that we would leave that chapel different than when we came in; closer to our Abba (Daddy), the Creator of the Universe!!!!!!!
