🌹 Today we honor the Holy New Martyr Saint Elizabeth the Grand Duchess of Russia (†1918)

Born into royalty and raised in luxury, Saint Elizabeth freely gave it all up after her husband’s assassination. She forgave his killers, founded a convent, and dedicated her life to prayer and serving the poor.

In 1918, she was arrested by the Bolsheviks and martyred by being thrown alive into a mine shaft. Even in her final hours, she prayed and sang hymns. Her love and forgiveness shone brightly in the darkness of hate.

🕊️ May her courage, humility, and compassion inspire us to follow Christ with our whole hearts—no matter the cost.

Holy New Martyr Elizabeth, pray to God for us!

In this heartfelt interview, a young woman and married mother, Gwynne shares her journey into the Orthodox Church. She opens up about what first drew her to the faith, what it’s like attending catechism classes, and how the liturgy and prayer began to reshape her daily life.

This conversation touches on finding a sponsor, asking hard questions, and discovering unexpected peace in the rhythms of Orthodox worship. It’s a beautiful glimpse into the quiet transformation that happens when someone says “yes” to the ancient path.

Perfect for anyone exploring Orthodoxy or wondering what the catechumenate really looks like.
