YOU SHOUTED.
BUT WHAT GREW?

I am not asking you to apologize for your shout.

I am asking what is growing in the life of the person who is shouting.

You said, “The Lord dealt with me.”

What happened when somebody disagreed with you on Tuesday morning?

Over time, are the people closest to you encountering more patience?
More truthfulness?
More love?

Did you return to the conversation to listen—or just to win?

Could you hear the hurt you used to interrupt with your defense?

Could you tell the truth without trying to wound?

One quiet response does not tell the whole story. Look at what is growing over time.

The fruit of the Spirit must become visible in how we live with people.

Celebrate what God did in the service. Then let Him govern what happens afterward.

You felt Him.
You heard Him.
You agreed with Him.

SO NOW WHAT?

ASK FOR DIRECTION BEFORE ASKING FOR BLESSING.

You already said yes.
Already gave your word.
Already told everybody what you were going to do.

Now you want God to bless a decision you never gave Him room to govern.

When did you ask for direction?

Before you made the commitment—or after backing out became embarrassing?

“Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”
Proverbs 3:5–6 KJV

“All thy ways” includes the plan you are defending. The relationship you refuse to examine. The opportunity you want so badly that every warning sounds like opposition.

If the answer has to be YES before you will obey, your preference is still in charge.

Can God correct you after you have announced it?

Can you receive wise counsel without calling somebody jealous?

Can you admit, “I moved too quickly,” without dressing the decision up in spiritual language?

A plan does not become God’s will because you put His name on it.

Put the decision back on the table.

Lord, examine what I want. Search what is driving me. Correct what I have justified. If I need to change direction, give me the humility to do it—even if I have to explain myself to everybody I already told.

Today, bring one pending decision before God without supplying His answer.

A Prayer for Every Student—and Everyone Who Serves Them

As this school year begins and continues, we bring before God every student—from the youngest child entering a classroom for the first time to the adult returning to finish what life interrupted.

Father, in the name of Jesus, we place our children and students before You.

Go with them into every classroom, hallway, cafeteria, playground, residence hall, and place of learning. Meet the child who is excited and the one who is afraid. Remember those carrying grief, anxiety, loneliness, hunger, disability, or burdens no one around them can see.

Give them understanding, curiosity, courage, and wise friendships. Protect them from violence, bullying, exploitation, and humiliation. Help them recognize when something is wrong and give them the confidence to tell a trustworthy adult. Surround them with people who will listen and respond.

We pray for teachers, professors, aides, paraprofessionals, substitutes, counselors, nurses, therapists, coaches, administrators, and school office staff. Give them wisdom to teach, patience to respond, and discernment to recognize needs beneath behavior.

Remember custodians, maintenance crews, cafeteria workers, security personnel, bus drivers, bus aides and matrons, monitors, crossing guards, and every person whose service helps a student arrive, learn, eat, and return home. Protect their bodies, strengthen their minds, and let their work be treated with dignity.

We pray for parents, grandparents, guardians, foster families, and caregivers managing schedules, expenses, difficult decisions, and quiet worries. Provide what is needed. Strengthen communication between homes and schools.

Where there is a need for additional support, open the way to receive it. Where harm has occurred, bring protection, truth, accountability, and healing. Teach us to make room for students who learn, communicate, or move through the world differently.

And make us a church that does more than offer words. Show us where to encourage, provide, listen, volunteer, and stand beside those who need help.

Let this be a year of learning, growth, belonging, and responsible care. Help every student know that their life has value beyond a grade, a performance, or another person’s opinion.

STRONG FEELING IS NOT THE SAME AS SPIRIT LEADING.

You can feel something deeply and still need to pause.

Relief does not automatically mean permission. Urgency does not automatically mean assignment. Wanting something badly does not make it God’s direction.

“There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.”
Proverbs 14:12 KJV

Our feelings deserve honest attention. They do not deserve unquestioned authority.

Before you send the message, make the promise, accept the opportunity, or close the door, ask:

Does this agree with Scripture?
Am I willing to receive wise correction?
Have I prayed for direction—or only for confirmation?
Can I obey God if His answer interrupts what I want?

Walking in the Spirit reaches into the decisions we make after the service ends. He must be allowed to govern what feels urgent, what seems reasonable, and what we have already decided we deserve.

Today, pause before following the strongest feeling in the room.

Bring one pending decision before God without supplying His answer for Him.

YOUR “BUT” JUST ERASED THE APOLOGY.

We can rationalize our actions, rewrite the story, and convince ourselves that what happened was everybody’s fault but ours.

Then, when it is time to apologize, we say:

“I’m sorry you feel that way.”

“I’m sorry, but you…”

“I’m sorry, but I only did it because…”

That is not repentance. That is an excuse wearing the clothes of an apology.

A genuine apology does not make the injured person responsible for how we treated them. It acknowledges what we actually did without minimizing it, defending it, or attaching a “but” that wipes everything away.

The Word does not show us ourselves to imprison us in condemnation. The Word exposes our bo***ge so it can call us into liberty.

Thank God for a mirror that loves us enough to tell the truth.

MEN, THE CAVE IS OPEN.

This Saturday, we are gathering around the table for food, honest conversation, brotherhood, and formation.

We will confront a necessary question:

Are we becoming the brothers we keep asking God to send?

You do not have to carry everything by yourself. You do not have to pretend that isolation is strength. There is a place for honest men to gather, listen, speak, and grow.
