Bach to Broadway Concert on Saturday, September 26 at 7:30pm.
Two Organs, Two Organists, Twice the Fun!

Two organists, Nathan Avakian and James Fitzwilliam, take on two very different instruments: the church's classical pipe organ, and a theatre organ, the kind that once filled movie palaces with the sound of a full orchestra out of a single console. They play each in turn, then together, moving from Bach to Broadway across the evening. Singer Claire Avakian joins her brother Nathan for several numbers.

The two instruments were built for different worlds, one for the concert hall and the church, one for the theatre and the crowd, and hearing them side by side is the whole point. It's a bigger, livelier night than most people expect, and that's the reason people come back.

Bring someone who thinks they don't like organ music and change their minds!

Tickets at the door: Suggested donation - $25

Co-sponsored by Central Hudson Valley American Guild of Organists (CHVAGO) and New York State Theatre Organ Society (NYTOS)

Poughkeepsie Remembers

This Friday, September 11, marks the 25th anniversary of 9/11.

At 6:00 PM, Christ Church will gather for a simple service of prayer and remembrance. We will remember those who died, those who ran toward danger to help others, those who still carry the wounds of that day, and the families and communities whose lives were forever changed.

The service will include Scripture, music, silence, prayers for peace, and the lighting of a candle in remembrance. We will also pray for first responders, those who became ill because of their work at Ground Zero, and for a world that still needs healing.

Twenty-five years later, we remember not only the horror of that day, but also the courage, compassion, and love that followed it. We will end by committing ourselves again to the work of peace, mercy, and loving our neighbors.

The service will last about 30 minutes and is open to everyone in our community.
