Reach Christ Youth Group

When I think of Reach Christ Youth Group, I think of everything this new group of kids has made it. Four words come to mind: service, faith, leadership, and community. And they did all of that and more the past several months.

This Lent our kids handed out health and hygiene supplies 2x in the city of Poughkeepsie (once in the cold and once on Holy Saturday!) and made sandwiches for the homeless at one of the monthly meetings, which Alarah and Robyn handed out the following morning.

They also went to New York City and had an amazing trip to the Chrism Mass and dinner at Carmine's. For some of the kids, this was the first time at our diocesan cathedral. Several of the boys also went to Vocation Day at the seminary alongside young men from other parishes.

Our kids led the annual Stations of the Cross on Good Friday at our parish, with everyone volunteering to altar serve or lector. It was inspiring to watch and thank you Deacon Kevin for presiding and organist Joe (Class of 2025) for music.

And finally, they had so much fun-- from meetings to bowling, playing on the playground, and all the times in between.

Thank you for an amazing Lent, Holy Week, and a joy to come home to in Easter!

A beautiful end to the Christmas season with Reach Christ Youth Group, from seeing the David movie in theaters a couple weeks ago, to hosting parish coffee this morning. Shout out to Cole and Cameron for participating in 9:30 Mass as the Kings. Thank you to our youth group and parish family for your support in serving our parish and community this winter.

In preparation for Advent, our youth group will be collecting donations to drop off with the Sisters of Life in NYC. Donations can be left in the back of the church at St. Martin's or in St. Martin de Porres School Lobby through December 1. The Sisters are asking especially for donations of items for toddlers and older children, as their mission provides long-term support for many vulnerable families. Thank you to our St Martin de Porres Parish community for your support💙

Congratulations to our youth group kids on raising $1167.25 for the Dutchess County Annual Crop Hunger Walk. The money they raised goes to support efforts worldwide to fight hunger and poverty, and it benefits our local food pantries right here in the Poughkeepsie area. We want to extend a sincere thank you to our parish community for your generous support💙
