In the Name of God, the Compassionate, The Merciful
Whoever kills a soul unless for a soul or for corruption [done] in the land – it is as if he had slain mankind entirely. And whoever saves one – it is as if he had saved mankind entirely. The Holy Quran, Chapter 5 Verse 32
These days we are witnessing unfortunate events in American society which are tied to the killing of human beings, and such acts of murder and violence in human society have been and will continue to be various in the course of history. The Holy Qur'an equates the murder of an innocent human being with the killing of all humanity.
We believe that all human problems are due to following internal desires leading us astray from justice and catering to ignorance. All of the Prophets of Islam invited us to justice and to avoid oppression. By avoiding the pure and beautiful commands of the prophets, mankind has inflicted irreparable blows on today’s humanity which puts us on the path of injustice leading to many hardships and difficulties.
Just as injustice, oppression, violence, and murder are condemned by the divine religions and the Holy Prophet of Islam, the loss of life and property of innocent people and the looting of public property are also condemned by the Islamic law.
The Islamic Education Center of Washington, while condemning oppression, murder, violence, looting, and standing to defend justice, purity, and honesty, which are the divine commands to the servants of God, has always paid attention to the hardships of human life during these difficult times. Mankind is praying for the emergence of a just judge who will fill the world with justice.
