The wisdom of God is presented to all, but not all will receive God's wisdom. Not because it is difficult to understand, but because the wisdom of God will be rejected by many. God's wisdom brings a spirit of repentance and with that repentance comes eternal life, but many will hear, and turn from the wisdom of God. Solomon is warning against rejecting the wisdom that comes from God.

Proverbs 1:23-27 (ESV)
23 If you turn at my reproof, behold, I will pour out my spirit to you; I will make my words known to you.

24 Because I have called and you refused to listen,
have stretched out my hand and no one has heeded,

25 because you have ignored all my counsel and would have none of my reproof,

26 I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when terror strikes you,

27 when terror strikes you like a storm and your calamity comes like a whirlwind, when distress and anguish come upon you.

Proverbs 1:20-22 (ESV)

The Call of Wisdom
20 Wisdom cries aloud in the street,
in the markets she raises her voice;
21 at the head of the noisy streets she cries out;
at the entrance of the city gates she speaks:
22 “How long, O simple ones, will you love being simple?
How long will scoffers delight in their scoffing
and fools hate knowledge?

Wisdom is given to all those who have an ear for the word of God. This cry of wisdom is meant for all to hear that are in city streets, and markets. There is not a selection on who should hear the word of God but the word of God is for all to hear. The word is given in public places so all may be made aware of the word of God.

So, go and give the good news of God, so that all may hear of his grace and mercy found in his son Jesus Christ.

1 The proverbs of Solomon, son of David, king of Israel:

2 To know wisdom and instruction, to understand words of insight,

3 to receive instruction in wise dealing, in righteousness, justice, and equity;

4 to give prudence to the simple, knowledge and discretion to the youth—

5 Let the wise hear and increase in learning, and the one who understands obtain guidance,

6 to understand a proverb and a saying, the words of the wise and their riddles.

7 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge;
fools despise wisdom and instruction.

"Even youths shall faint and be weary, and young men shall fall exhausted; but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint"
(Isaiah 40:30-31) ESV

We live in a world where we are told to chase our dreams. The Word of God tells us to wait on the Lord. That means we present our requests to the Lord and we wait for him to open the doors.

Waiting, as Tom Petty famously sang, is the hardest part. Waiting challenges our faith, and yes it is a challenge. It also strengthens our walk with the Lord. When we make our stand in the Lord we know we are standing on a firm foundation.

Wait upon the LORD, make your stand in him. That is the challenge for each one of us. Make your stand today so that you shall run and not be weary, and walk and not be faint. Amen
