We are an evangelical Anglican Church in the ancient liturgical tradition, which means that we emphasize genuine, whole-life discipleship through the Holy Spirit, under the authority of the Holy Scriptures, and grounded in the sacramental experience of the Church. Come check us out!

Anglican Reformation Church Memorial Day Observance

Monday is Memorial Day, a day to mourn and honor the U.S. military personnel who died while serving in the Armed Forces of the United States. As many of you know I had the privilege of serving as an infantryman in the U.S. Army. When 9/11 occurred, I had re-enlisted in the Pennsylvania National Guard while I was in seminary. After seminary we moved to Maine to begin my pastoral internship. Not long into my internship, the Pennsylvania unit I had served with for 4+ years (A-CO 1/111th Infantry, 56th SBCT) was deployed to Iraq in 2005 and six of my brothers were killed in two brutal ambushes. Two of them had served under me when I was their sergeant.

- SGT Brahim Jeffcoat
- CPL. Gennaro (Punchy) Pelligrini
- SPC. Kurt Krout
- SPC. John Kulick
- SPC Nathaniel DeTample
- SPC. Francis Straub

Their deaths are something I still carry with me today. No Memorial Day since has been the same.

Tomorrow at 11 am I will be thinking of them and praying for their families as I lead the prayers at the Memorial Day Service conducted by American Legion Post 143 at the Evergreen Cemetery, 2834 N Spokane St, Post Falls, ID 83854. You are all welcome to attend (come early, the parking can be tight and bring a folding chair). Following the service those who can help will be collecting the flags from the graves of deceased servicemen and women.
