The Sanctuary of Hope

The Sanctuary of Hope Loving, Caring, Fun, Dynamic, Inviting, Impactful, Helping and Life Giving Community of Believers!

We are loving church family that is building the Kingdom of God by worshiping Jesus Christ, reaching the lost, growing disciples and equipping ministers. We are passionately doing this through prayer, praise, worship, fellowship, stewardship, teaching, preaching and serving each other. Our common objective is demonstrate the love of Christ by meeting the needs of our inner city, neighbors and the

world beyond - because we recognize that the poor and oppressed of our society are at the center of Christ’s mission (Matthew 25: 31-46 and Luke 4:18,19). As a multicultural and multigenerational missional congregation we are a part of the Church of God (evangelical Christian denomination within the classical pentecostal movement of the holiness tradition).

Dear Friends and Family,

Please consider helping me!

I have two more families to finish HOPE's Christmas 2023. One single mother has 10 children. Five are in sixth grade and below. Five are 11-17 years old. I have enough toys, but we do not have any suitable clothing and hygiene items, and we have nothing at all for teenagers.

Her 15 and 17-year-old sons have been shot—wrong place and wrong time. Both were shot this year. The 15-year-old was shot when he was 14. The family has suffered a lot of trauma and is in desperate need of HOPE. Three of her boys, ages 15, 13, and 12, are in my CHARACTER-THROUGH-WORK (C-T-W) Program. I pick them up after school, on days when school is closed, and on Saturdays. They work at the warehouse, unloading tractor trailers, sorting, packing, loading the HOPE truck, and delivering the goods. They also pick up donated furniture, bring it back, clean it, help make necessary repairs, and deliver it to families in need, especially families transitioning from a homeless shelter to an apartment.

In C-T-W, our boys and young men learn essential skills that many of us take for granted. Things our fathers’ passed to us: how to work, how to carry on a conversation, how to smile, how to laugh, and how to behave around people. They also learn there are good people in this world and work is more than just showing up. It's accomplishing the task. It's finishing the job in a way that makes you proud when you look at what you have done. We provide them with a small stipend. But most of all, we have them in the presence of godly men, teaching and modeling biblical character and demonstrating Christian principles.

My next family is a retired widow who is a single mom with an adult daughter. The mother relies on her Social Security. She works in every aspect of this ministry as a volunteer. She does everything I or anyone else does. She lifts, totes, and drives the forklift and large cargo truck. She wrestles with those struggling with alcoholism, addiction, and mental health issues. She preaches and teaches as well, all as a full-time volunteer.

About ten years ago, a homeless addict handed her a beautiful baby girl who was between two and three years old and then disappeared. The judge awarded our friend temporary custody ten years ago. Now thirteen, she works in the ministry alongside the only Momma she has known. She is too old for toys and can't afford the clothes that other girls wear, always wearing clothing from the HOPE closet (Well, you understand...) and never complaining. Neither she nor her mother has asked for anything, but both have worked so hard for so long for nothing and have never been able to have anything trendy. I ask you to help me make this Christmas memorable for this girl. Her life has been difficult enough transitioning to teen years in public school is hard enough without standing out because your clothes are considered as less than.

Please consider helping by sending a small Christmas offering/donation through Cash App, Venmo, Zelle, or PayPal to help purchase clothing and hygiene items to help me finish HOPE's 2023 Christmas Ministry. No gift is too small or too large, and any contribution will go a long way in assisting our cause. Thank you in advance for your support.
I look forward to hearing from you. Until then, I remain...

Good Friday is a witness of our Lord’s brave fearlessness, a testimony of His boundless love, a historical signature sealing His unfailing covenant of promises for you concerning the propitiation of your sin, your salvation, your healing, your provision, your protection, and for those you bring to him—your family, friends, neighbors and even your enemies. As you pause today to remember Him, please remember every step, every blow, every wound, every stripe, every pain, every taunt, every jeer, every insult, every piece of torn flesh, and drop of blood was for you. That is what makes this bloody and brutal Friday our Good Friday.

URGENT NEED!

Please consider helping our ministry to the poor. This is our 29th year and the most difficult year we’ve ever faced. A significant decrease in giving has hard hit our daily operations budget during this second year of Covid. Many things are breaking down in our ministry, including our big diesel HOPE TRUCK. It is broken down right now. We are receiving calls to pick up donations of much-needed food and clothing. Commercial size rental trucks are at a premium, and with our low receipts, they are becoming cost-prohibitive. In addition, the flat roof over our soup kitchen, chapel foyer, and female restrooms has completely failed. Please consider helping us. Every $1, $5, $10, $20, $50, $100, $500, $1,000, or $10,0000 or more will help.

Please feel free to use our convenient and safe online donations platform to make your tax-deductible contribution by clicking the link below.

Or if you like, you may mail your check or money order to:

Please listen and share with the broadest destination!

Find your purpose and getting to your destination…

God help us! This is the preaching, teaching, and examples of right living that the Holy Spirit used to reach, teach, and keep me. Growing up in Southeastern North Carolina, there were several metaphors for “awesome preaching when the content was well prepared, awesome, and dynamically delivered with the anointing that is fueled with extensive prayer. “

This woman mastered each metaphor: she named the baby, shucked the corn, shelled the peas, hoed the row, lit the church, told us how the cow ate the cabbage…. Please put aside your biases and allow this woman of God to bless you from the Holiness-Pentecostal tradition.
