Why Tiny Food Pantries Matter 🏡💚 A tiny food pantry offers immediate, local, and low-barrier access to food for neighbors in need—available 24/7, no paperwork, no appointments. Just take what you need or leave what you can.

These small structures make a big difference for families facing sudden shortages, transportation challenges, or privacy concerns. They strengthen community care between major food distribution efforts.

Churches: Ready to Launch This Ministry? If your PEVA congregation is interested in establishing a tiny food pantry, you may be eligible for a Church Community Hunger Grant through the Presbytery of Eastern Virginia Compassion, Peace, and Justice Team (PEVA CPJ). Grants up to $1,000 support hunger-related ministries like this.📋 Apply here:https://irp.cdn-website.com/2bde4f91/files/uploaded/PEVAUPDATEDChurchCommunityHungerGrantApplication_6_6_2025.pdf

✨The History of First Presbyterian Church, Hampton, VA ✨
Did you know First Presbyterian Church (FPC) started with a stonemason from Scotland? Their founder, Samuel Cu***ng, moved to Hampton to work on Fort Monroe and later gathered local believers to officially establish the church in his home on April 6, 1879, with 12 charter members. In their early years, the congregation worshiped in the local courthouse under their first pastor, the Rev. John Gray Anderson, before building their first home on Chapel Street in 1885. After spending over 50 years at a West Queen Street location, FPC moved to their current home at Victoria and South Armistead Avenue in 1952. The opened our current sanctuary in 1963—complete with a tower bell funded by their Sunday School children—and later added a fully accessible commons area in 1999.

Today, FPC continues to thrive through vibrant worship, deep community roots, and strong youth and mission ministries. In October 2022, they joyfully welcomed their 16th pastor, the Rev. Eric Peltz, to guide them into their next chapter. Truly, they are “Shining Christ's Light, Sharing Christ's Love.”

First Presbyterian Church, Hampton, Virginia is a dynamic and active Christian community that gladly welcomes all people who long for a transformational experience of faith.

Happy International Donut Day! 🍩✨How can a sweet treat remind us of something much deeper? Just like a delicious, fresh donut satisfies our morning hunger, spending time in scripture truly fills our souls. Sharing a box of donuts brings friends together, much like feasting on God’s truth is best experienced within a community.
