Join neighbors and friends for the 6th Annual Ladera LGBTQ+ Pride parade and celebration starting from the T-intersection of La Mesa Drive and La Cuesta Drive at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 13th. Ladera’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) team and friends from LCC are planning another family-friendly celebration after the parade with music, food, costumes, Pride swag, a photo booth, and great fun, held on our patio from 11:30 to 1:30.

We will conclude our 4-part series on Democracy and Disagreement with a discussion on the book Outraged: Why We Fight About Morality and Politics and How to Find Common Ground. Written by social psychologist Kurt Gray, whose work examines how our perceptions of harm influence our reactions. Learn why we sometimes overreact to minor irritations or perceived threats, and why our country is so polarized.

Join us for “Reflections for These Times,” a nurturing space for connection and stillness. Each session opens with a Tai Chi prayer, followed by time to check in, lighting a candle for our shared concerns and hopes, and silent meditation. We close in peaceful silence.

After these 30 minutes of connection and quiet, we will enjoy snacks and conversation in the fellowship hall. This program will be held on the first and third Wednesdays of each month—join us whenever you need grounding and community.

Every blanket you share tells a neighbor, “You’re cared for.” Through Church World Service, that simple message becomes real comfort for people facing hardship. CWS is present in moments of crisis and in the quiet, everyday struggles of those
experiencing homelessness, offering blankets, toiletry kits, and practical support when it’s needed most. Your generosity helps ensure that someone who is cold, displaced, or simply having a difficult day receives a reminder that they are not alone. Together let's support the compassionate work of CWS with our gifts. You can contribute by:

● Dropping a check in the collection plate made
out to LCC with CWS in the memo line
● Mailing a check to LCC
● Giving online at ladera.org

Our third Democracy and Disagreement event drew over 80 people for an engaging conversation with Judges Franklin Bondonno and Stephen Trott. Attendees appreciated Judge Trott’s clear presentation on the history of birthright citizenship.
