Join us for the Annual Cleanup Event, this **Saturday May 16th, 10 am - 2 pm** - please check in at the picnic table up front for a work list!

This is a wonderful community event where we all chip in for a few hours to make the property look its best ahead of Memorial Day Weekend. Coffee will be available in the morning, and some sandwiches at lunchtime. Consider bringing a side dish so we can enjoy at potluck lunch around 12:15 and have a moment together in memory of Hattie.

What to bring: Pruning shears, loppers, string trimmers, brooms, rakes, tarps, hand clippers and gloves; a sack lunch/snacks for yourself/a dish to share; A chair or blanket for lunch break; weather appropriate gear for rain or sun

What to leave at home: your pets, please :)

See you there!

We are sad to share the news that our Chairperson, Hattie, has passed away. She was a fierce steward, champion and protector of this historic property for decades and we are grateful to her for helping to make it the safe, beloved neighborhood space it is today. Out of respect for her intensely private nature and explicit wishes, no service will be held.

We - the GHC Maintenance Association - will continue to uphold her legacy of stewardship. We ask for your continued support in this endeavor, and appreciate your patience during this period of transition.

Please reach out with questions or concerns to [email protected]

Respectfully,
The GHCMA

I’m always cognizant of picking up donations before the end of the year. I did this year too. Picked up the mail yesterday, and had several donations postmarked before December 31st. Don’t know where they were, but I’m blaming this on the post office. I will definitely pre-date The thank yous! We appreciate every single donation we get. There are a lot of people that use this cemetery and never donate a dime! We cannot do this out-of-pocket.

Christmas cactus puts on a show when it gets steady bright light and cool nights 🌸✨ A little fall “rest period” helps trigger all those blooms. If yours hasn’t flowered yet, try giving it cooler evenings and watch the buds pop!

Your peace lily droops dramatically, then you panic-water it daily? You're creating the exact problem you're trying to solve... Notice how your peace lily seems to have a flair for the dramatic - wilting like it's dying, then perking up perfectly after watering?

That drooping is actually your plant's way of communicating, but most growers panic and start watering on a schedule. Big mistake.

**Here's what actually works:**

✅ **Use the finger test** - stick your finger 1"" deep (about to your first knuckle)
✅ **Water only when dry at that depth** - ignore the calendar completely
✅ **Pour slowly around the plant** until water seeps from drainage holes
✅ **Let it fully dry down again** before the next watering

**Pro move:** Use room temperature rainwater or distilled water instead of tap water. Tap water has chemicals and mineral salts that slowly poison your plant over time.

**Mistakes that kill peace lilies:**
❌ Watering on a schedule regardless of soil moisture
❌ Using cold tap water straight from the faucet
❌ Stopping too soon when watering (soil needs to be fully saturated)

Think of it like this - you don't drink the same amount of water every day at exactly the same times. Your peace lily is the same way. It gets "thirstier" when it's warm and less thirsty when it's cool.

The dramatic wilting? That's actually helpful - it tells you the plant is getting close to needing water, but it's not an emergency yet.

How dry does your peace lily's soil feel right now when you stick your finger down?

Wonderful, big mushrooms popped up overnight. Please eat at your own risk.! we are not responsible for missed identifica...

To the lovely woman who has decided to do some trimming, the only thing that should be trimmed this time of year fruit trees, of which we don’t have any. You also will be responsible for hauling out anything you cut! This is private property, and you didn’t ask permission. It cost us money to haul your debris away, and that’s not right. Thank you for understanding and we appreciate your help.
