Operation Walk - Freedom to Move

Operation Walk - Freedom to Move OWFTM is a private, not-for-profit, volunteer medical services organization which provides free surgical treatment for patients in developing countries.

Our Mission

The principle purpose of Operation Walk Freedom to Move is to travel to foreign lands and provide humanitarian orthopedic care to those who would otherwise not have access to care. Our secondary purpose is to provide educational teaching opportunities to the resident orthopedic staff at the hospitals where we perform total joint replacement and fracture care surgeries. Who We Are

We

are a dedicated team of orthopedic surgeons, anesthesiologists, scrub techs, and surgical nurses who go into poor, rural communities and perform hip and knee replacement surgeries for people who would otherwise never have the opportunity. Our mission is to transform the lives of people living in poor, rural communities who are unable to move without pain. We also teach local medical personnel new skills, which will allow them to give even better care after our medical teams have returned home. Where We Work

We have sent a team from Portland to the Dominican Republic for the last four years. We team up with the Institute for Latin America Concerns (ILAC) and work out of Cabral University Public Trauma Center and Juan De Bosch Hospital.
