On Monday, September 7, the monks of Mount Angel will welcome Postulants Noe Contreras and Cole Fox into the novitiate at 5 pm, right before the celebration of Vespers in the Abbey church. All are welcome to attend.

Please pray for these postulants as they prepare for this new stage in their monastic formation where they will focus on the Scriptures, the Psalms, the Rule of St. Benedict and the customs and history of Mount Angel Abbey.

After four grace-filled days at the Quo Vadis Retreat, our time together has come to a close. Our seminarians joyfully accompanied the children as they came to know Jesus more deeply, grow closer to Him, and discover the loving plan He has for their lives. We were also blessed to serve nourishing meals for everyone throughout the retreat.

The mission of the Quo Vadis Retreat is to help young people listen for God’s voice, deepen their relationship with Christ, and courageously discern the unique vocation to which He is calling them. Quo vadis?—“Where are you going?”—invites each participant to reflect on where the Lord is leading them and to respond generously to His call.

Let us continue to pray that our 33 young retreatants heard God’s invitation and discover what He desires for their lives.

We are especially grateful for the presence of our seminarians; our priests from our Archdiocese of Portland—Fr. Matt Libra, Fr. Justin Echeverria, Fr. Tristan Schubert, Fr. Zack Muñoz, Fr. Brent Durschmidt, and Fr. Randy Hoang; especially our Vocation Director, Fr. Peter Julia; and Archbishop Alexander Sample. They generously guided the children spiritually, shared their faith and personal stories, spoke about their own vocation journeys and most specially their love for God!

Mother of all vocations… pray for all of our retreatants our seminarians and all our priests.

It was a meaningful opportunity to spend time with these young men, encourage them in their faith, and support them as they continue discerning God’s call in their lives. Thank you to everyone who made this special gathering possible and for your continued prayers for vocations!

Please keep our young people attending the Quo Vadis retreat in your prayers, that they may respond generously to the universal call to holiness and discern God’s will as they consider their vocation.
Please also pray for our seminarians, assisting Fr. Peter Julia our Vocations Director, as he leads this retreat.
