Thanks to everyone who joined us for our latest Senior Social Hour Movie Matinee! Together we enjoyed "The Women's Balcony," a witty and thought-provoking film. With popcorn and movie treats in hand, we shared plenty of laughs, then stayed for a lively discussion that made the afternoon even more meaningful. Join Us for a Special Presentation: Jews and the American Revolution in the Kaplan Collection of Early American Judaica

We are pleased to share an upcoming educational opportunity in our community. On Tuesday, July 14, at 7:00 pm, Laura Newman Eckstein will be speaking at Neveh Shalom in the Stampfer Chapel.

Drawing on materials from the Arnold and Deanne Kaplan Collection of Early American Judaica, this presentation examines Jewish participation in and experience of the American Revolution. Far beyond the familiar image of patriotic support, these manuscripts and printed works show Jews sustaining religious life during wartime, financing soldiers and military needs, supplying the Continental Army, helping raise revenue for the revolutionary cause, posting bail in politically charged treason cases, and maintaining commercial networks despite the disruptions of occupation and war. Taken together, these sources present Jews as active participants in the struggle for independence and in the preservation of communal life under extraordinary conditions.
