Hello Church Family,
Blessings to you all! Here is an update of the current happenings at the church.
SUNDAYS – 10 AM – WORSHIP SERVICE … For the time being, we are still doing family-style worship (no children’s ministry classes yet, but coming soon). However, the nursery is open for parents who would like to sit with their small children and still hear the sermon on the nursery speaker.
· Sunday Morning Prayer Teams: A prayer team will be available after service each Sunday to pray in the back of the sanctuary for those who want prayer.
· Tithes/Offerings: There is a basket located in the front of the sanctuary for your convenience in worshipping our Lord through giving.
· Celebrating ‘50 years Anniversary’ with Joe & Carol Alery: Following service this Sunday, we will have a celebration fellowship in the Grace Center with cake, coffee and water.
MONDAYS – 7 PM – PRAYER MEETING … Join us for prayer on Monday nights in the Youth Room for your families, the church, our community, nation and the world! Church Contact: Pastor Phil Ovalle – 503-747-7005.
THURSDAYS (SEPT 24 – OCT 22) – 10 AM – FALL WOMEN’S BIBLE STUDY … Ladies, join us here at the church Thursday mornings beginning Sept 24th for a new study called The Faithful: Heroes from the Old Testament… Borrowing from best-selling studies by Beth Moore, Priscilla Shirer, Lisa Harper, Kelly Minter, and Jennifer Rothschild, this 5-session study explores crucial moments in the lives of five Old Testament figures—Esther, Gideon, Malachi, Nehemiah, and Hosea. Through their stories, discover how God uses the lives of ordinary people for His glory and the good of His people. Strengthen your faith as you walk alongside these larger-than-life figures who all chose to obey God no matter the circumstances. Church Contact: Patti Nash – 971-400-4697.
OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD YEAR ROUND … More time, more boxes, more kids coming to Jesus… Here’s how to stay involved all year:
· Pack one shoebox per month – Pastor Gregg is challenging each family to pack one shoebox each month. November collection month is just around the corner.
· Donate shoebox gift items to help Children’s Ministry meet their 2020 goal of filling 100 shoeboxes by this November. Aug. Wish List: School supplies, flashlights & extra batteries, toothbrushes, individual size Kleenex packets, any clearance or sale-priced items. Please give to Kathy Lakey or Mary Zachary.
MILK CARTONS NO LONGER NEEDED … Thank you to all who have been bringing their milk cartons for our preschool ministry. We have plenty now, so will not need any more.
USING YOUR GOD-GIVEN GIFTS FOR HIS KINGDOM… There are plenty of places to get plugged in here at church. Here are just a few:
· Nursery Ministry: taking care of God’s little ones (birth thru 3 years). Commitment is once per month from 9:50 until church service ends (approximately 11:30). If you’d like to find out more about this ministry, please join me in the Nursery following service this Sunday. I will be going over Nursery Caregiver Guidelines. · Hospitality Ministry: preparing coffee, water, and snacks before church for fellowship in the Grace Center following service. Contact: Donna Soderberg – 971-219-2504.
· Sound Ministry: Must be interested in job shadowing to learn all the intricacies of sound ministry. Job-shadow training: (Sundays 9:00 AM – 11:30 AM) and during Worship Practices (every other Tuesday 6:30-8:30 PM). Contact: Don Shoemaker – 503-941-5950.
· Media Ministry: Running media (Easy Worship, Audacity, etc) during Sunday Service and/or some Mid-week services. Training provided. Contact: Hannah Shoemaker – 971-724-5295.
· Worship Ministry: If you play an instrument and would like to worship the Lord with your gift… Contact: Roger Yarnell – 503-810-0625.
· Operation Christmas Child: A ministry that takes the good news of God’s love to children all over the world by packing shoeboxes full of gifts. For more info on how to get involved… Contact: Mary Zachary – 503-320-4941.
· Kid’s Church: We are looking to start back a ministry program to children (4 years thru 5th grade) in October. This would be a once per month commitment as a teacher or a helper. If you are interested in joining the team, please Contact: Helen Wuckowitsch – 503-348-4936.
