The first show of the season is coming up on Friday, June 6 at 7PM. CONTRAILS is an electronic music trio with John Clark on electric double bass, Shannon Allen on electric cello, Michael McInnis on synthesizers. The sound is eclectic; influenced by the band member’s diverse backgrounds in Classical, Jazz, World Music and Folk Traditions. Improvisation is at the center of each performance, utilizing effects and loop pedals to create multi layered soundscapes of melody, texture and compositional form. Beautiful and atmospheric, Contrails takes the listener on a journey to the unexpected, painting a picture in the moment that lingers long after the music is gone. Here's a bit of video from a show at Blue before Michael joined the band. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nWFHgaDRwP0

On Friday, November 1, at 7PM the Last Church on the Left will present Draudiga and Cryin’ Caleb Aaron. They’re local and you’ll love'em. Suggested donation $15-20. BYOB (please no red wine) and off street parking available.
Draudiga is the alias of Maine psych-folk musician Rebecca Theresa Burgess, formerly known as Reesa Wood. Marked by ethereal pixie-like vocals and fingerstyle guitar, Draudiga's songs draw upon her inner and outer landscapes. Magic is everywhere, both inside and outside the animal body, and her songs delve in and out of the folk tales we carry through generations. Since her debut in 2020, Draudiga has released four albums- "Paranormal Romance", a lo-fi collection of guitar loops and vocals, “Phosphorescence”, a dreamy goth rock album released in 2021, "Persephone", a harkening back to her country roots, and "Fur and Soot", a collection of witchy, intimate folk songs released in 2023 after the birth of her son.
Cryin Caleb Aaron is singing, guitar-playing one-man band from Maine with his own style of rock 'n' roll/country/twang. His influences creep out from the shadows stretched over several decades of underground songs. With equal parts cynicism and pathos, his melodic, rousing songs are almost always laced with desperation, dealing with crisis, lonesomeness, regret, alienation, love, and armageddon. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FHqXQfZ4SKg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DeZFfGPBKYw https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ulihvHs8DI&t=15s

Come hear our short opening set for Choro Das 3 on the 19th, then come hear us play a full show of our own choro favorites at the Last Church on the Left. This is a house concert at the converted church/home of photographer Jay York. It's a wonderful space - lots of art work and great acoustics. BYOB but please, no red wine - Jay has a new rug. Give me a shout if you need more info.
