All are made in the image of God.
This Sunday we will celebrate Pride Sunday. Of course, celebrating the glory of God’s diverse Creation isn’t something that happens only one day of the year, but Pride Month does give us an opportunity to consciously recognize the sacred worth of LGBTQIA+ individuals and communities.
Sunday is also Father’s Day, so we will give thanks for the goodness of fathers, father figures, and all those who embody God’s love by nurturing, guiding, protecting, and supporting children of all ages around the world.
In celebration of the Holy's love of diversity and liberation, and in observance of Juneteenth – a holiday that commemorates the end of slavery in the United States – the worship service will include music that comes out of the African American tradition. Out of honor and respect for origins of the music we will sing, Woodfords will make a donation to the United Church of Christ Musicians Association's "Royalties for Spirituals" initiative.
The morning's scripture passages are Jeremiah 17:5-8 and Matthew 10:40-42.
