Please join us in extending best wishes to Bishop James Ruggieri, as he marks his second anniversary as bishop of Portland. Chosen by Pope Francis, he was ordained and installed as the 13th Bishop of Portland on May 7, 2024, at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Portland. May God continue to guide him as he shepherds the people of Maine.

On May 1, we celebrate the Feast of St. Joseph the Worker, one of two feast days in the saint's honor. Through working as a carpenter, St. Joseph supported Mary and Jesus, and this day, declared by Pope Pius XII in 1955, honors the dignity of work and workers. St. Joseph is the patron saint of carpenters, craftsmen, engineers, and workers in general. Celebrations of the feast day are planned on Sunday, May 3, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Church in Farmington and on May 1 at 5 p.m. at St. Joseph Church in Gardiner.
