Historic Columbian Cemetery

Historic Columbian Cemetery Among them are well-known figures, but beyond these individuals, you will find people from diverse class levels and ethnic groups.

Since 1857, the Historic Columbian Cemetery has been a part of the North Portland CommunityWithin its six-acre site, Columbian Cemetery is home to between five to six thousand deceased Portlanders. The broad range of people buried in the Columbian reflects the sundry spirit and rich history of nineteenth and twentieth-century Portland. It is the goal of HCC association that it be restored and main

tained in a way that will serve not only the families of the deceased, but also, the greater community.

Sorry everyone it has been a while since I have had a chance to get on here. If you are looking for information at the cemetery and I can possibly find it for you please send me a message directly at Laura Carlson (Lawer-Coltharp) so I can assist. I don't get on here all the time to check everything. I am still working on a larger map for the cemetery, again this takes a lot of time especially when you work a full time job and have health issues popping up all the time. Sorry for the delay. I will attempt to answer all the questions I find on here today sometime this week ( gotta pull out the book lol ) Thanks for your understanding.

Good morning. I am working on making us a large map of the grounds to the cemetery. Give me a little time it's going to be a process. Have a great Halloween.

Good morning everyone. I am posting on here to let everyone know that I will be trying to answer questions as quickly as I can. I am a volunteer so it may take a minute. As we know Mr. Bixby recently took over our cemetery and he is trying the best he can to manage it all, so I am going to try and take over the facebook part to relieve some of his stress in this aspect. However, if there is something I don't know I will be forwarding your information to him or give you his information so he can answer the question correctly. Have a wonderful day, I will be checking on here daily to get you answers.

Thank You,
Laura Carlson

To all are wonderful faithful families of Historic Columbian Cemetery. I’m sad to say that we have unfortunately received our second robbery and theft of all of our landscape equipment. We have worked very hard to improve the appearance of the Cemetery and take great pride in seeing our families smiles because we take pride in that. Columbian as you know has little to no income and is a non profit. We do what we do because we care and the memories of our families must be protected, respected and preserved. We shall continue the same level of service. We will unfortunately no longer be able to store our equipment on site due to the theft of equipment. If anyone would so kindly like to donate and help us restore what was taken please do contact us. Any and All contribution would be greatly appreciated and also tax deductible. Thank you again and it’s and honor to serve are families and community.

Sincerely

Ed Bixby
