We hope the Easter Reading Plan helped you build a love for God’s Word! This week we’re starting back in Genesis, and this time we have a reading plan for your family to follow along as we learn! Read the whole passage throughout the week, or read a few sections, it’s up to you! The audio Bible is also a great option— you can listen in the car!

This is it guy, it’s the last day of our reading plan! And this last chapter is the whole reason for our faith and our salvation!

John 20:1-31 Jesus died on Friday, that’s the day we call Good Friday. He stayed in the tomb all day Saturday, it was the sabbath and his followers couldn’t tend to his body. On Sunday, Mary Magdalene came to the tomb and found it empty. Think of how Jesus’ friends had been grieving the last two days. They thought Jesus was the Messiah, the Savior, the Christ, but then he died. They didn’t understand yet that was God’s plan. They had been hiding inside for fear. Imagine their hope when they saw the empty tomb. Imagine how they felt when Jesus appeared inside the locked house! When Thomas doubted because he hadn’t yet seen Jesus alive in person, Jesus appeared again and told him to see and touch his nail scarred hands and his pierced side. I think this happened so we could have even more testimony that it was truly Jesus, fully alive in his same body. Jesus said to Thomas, “Have you believed because you have seen me? Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”

That’s us! We haven’t seen with our eyes, but we have believed all the testimony and the words of Jesus. If you haven’t yet believed in Jesus for your salvation, to be the one to save you and change your life, stop right now and talk to him.
“Jesus, I believe in you. You are the Son of God, you are the Savior who paid for my sin. Please forgive me and wash me clean. Help me to live a changed life for You. In the name of Jesus, amen.”

John 19:28-42. Now we come to the moment of Jesus’ death. His body was broken for us, and his blood was poured out for us, so that through him we can have life eternal. Thank you Jesus!
Several times the passage says, “to fulfill the scripture.” The Jews had been awaiting their Messiah for hundreds of years. There are so many prophecies throughout the Old Testament that were fulfilled in Jesus, giving even more confirmation that he was the Messiah. If you’d like to learn more, there’s a handy chart showing prophecies fulfilled in Jesus at newtestamentchristians.com
