On this Sunday, August 23, 2026! - "The Thirteenth Sunday after Pentecost" - note: Summer worship continues @ 9:30 a.m. - This Sunday we share our "Traditional" Worship Service.

In a setting that proclaims the power and prestige of the Roman Empire, Jesus asks a couple of "simple" questions - "who do people say that I am?" - and then "who do YOU say that I am?" But these were really not "simple questions" - for these were questions whose responses would put the followers of Jesus in direct conflict with the civil and the religious authorities. For to respond that "Jesus was the Messiah, the Son of the Living God" was a acknowledgment that their allegiance did not lie with the civil or religious authorities, but with God and God alone! And, as such, that their way of living would reflect this allegiance. This was by no means a "simple question" - either for the disciples then - or we who continue to follow in their footsteps even today! We look forward to exploring this more with you on Sunday.

On this Sunday, August 9, 2026! - "The Eleventh Sunday after Pentecost" - note: Summer worship begins @ 9:30 a.m. - This Sunday we share our "Traditional" Worship Service - which will include the Celebration of the Lord's Supper.

On what should have been an easy journey, suddenly the disciples of Jesus find themselves in the middle of a storm - ferocious winds - battered by the waves - and a long way from the shore (either from where they started or their destination). They should have been able to handle this, but everything they tried did not work - they were exhausted - they were frustrated - they were afraid - and it appears that they are "caught" in the storm with no way out. Until, from nowhere Jesus comes walking across the water - in the midst of the storm - to them. To calm their fears, Jesus calls out - "Take heart - I am - do not be afraid." Perhaps this is something we should have posted everywhere we go in life - to encourage, to calm, to empower and to direct us on our own journeys - especially in the midst of the "storms" we encounter (or which encounter us). We look forward to sharing worship with you this Sunday, as we gather in "the boat" for worship.

On Sunday, August 2 - the Bethlehem Lutheran and Portage Presbyterian Churches will be providing a worship service in the "Entertainment Tent" at the Columbia Country Fairgrounds.

Worship begins @ 9:30 a.m.

We will share together in worship, fellowship, prayer and song.

And some of the young people and adults who participated in our most recent Vacation Bible School experience will share songs and reflections on this wonderful week.

We look forward to sharing this special worship experience with you.
