Prince of Peace, Portage, MI - ELCA

Prince of Peace, Portage, MI - ELCA Touched by the gospel, we seek to be instruments of God's peace for the sake of the world. Worship: 10:30am Sunday Mornings

Prince of Peace is a congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA). The best way to get to know us is to visit us for worship on Sundays or through one of the many events that take place in our community. We are currently worshipping in our sanctuary and online at 10:30 AM on Sundays. Join us online via our website or YouTube channel (www.youtube.com/princeofpeacelutheranchurch

portagemi). Learning hour for all ages begin at 9:15 AM each Sunday. Please see our website for the most up to date calendar of events. www.popportage.org

The ELCA confesses the Triune God — Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We proclaim Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. In our preaching and teaching the ELCA trusts the Gospel as the power of God for the salvation of all who believe. ELCA teaching or theology serves the proclamation and ministry of this faith. It does not have an answer for all questions, not even all religious questions. Teaching or theology prepares members to be witnesses in speech and in action of God’s rich mercy in Jesus Christ.

Pick a word that comes up a lot in the bible (Hint: try one of these! Love, child, hope, forever.) Give everyone a chance to look through their bible to find a place where the word is used. Read the different places together and compare and contrast how the word is being used. Bonus points if you use different kinds of bibles

Faith is nurtured not only at church, but in every part of our lives! To tend our growing faith well, we need to engage with our faith in spaces beyond our congregational home. For the 17 weeks between Graduation Sunday and Rally Day next fall, we will post one faith practice per week for your household or family to try out together. These are simply suggestions to try, so feel free to adjust them to suit your situation. If you would like additional suggestions, please ask! We're happy to help! We pray that these practices will bless your household's faith journey together. We'd love to hear your stories and see pictures of all the ways you are nurturing faith in your daily lives this summer!

This week's Family Faith Practice: Find or create a family prayer to pray at mealtimes. Write it down on a poster to display by the table, on a sticky note to slip in your lunch box, or on a placemat to read at your seat. Read the prayer together once a day for a week.
