After much prayer, wise counsel, and conversations with both his doctors and family, Brandon Morrison has made the difficult decision to step down from his role as an elder at Portage Bible Church due to health reasons.
While his heart desires to continue serving in this capacity, the reality is reflected in Matthew 26:41 — “The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.” This decision was not made lightly, but with a desire to honor both the Lord and the physical limits he is currently facing.
This Easter Sunday will mark Brandon’s final Sunday serving as an elder at PBC. Over the past 15 months, he has sought to faithfully shepherd and serve the church, striving to keep his eyes fixed on Christ.
As he shared recently, this season is best understood as part of a relay race. Drawing from Hebrews 12:1–2, the race set before him in this role has been run with endurance, and now the baton is being passed. The focus now shifts to what lies ahead for Portage Bible Church as the next leg of the race begins.
With that in mind, the church welcomes Pastor Tracy McConnell (https://www.facebook.com/TracyBMcConnell) as the interim pastor and elder. Brandon has full confidence in Pastor Tracy’s leadership and believes he will faithfully guide PBC during this transition as the church seeks its next permanent pastor.
Brandon asks for continued prayers for himself and his family during this time—both for healing and for wisdom in the days ahead. He also encourages the church to remain unified, prayerful, and focused on Christ as they move forward together.
To God be the glory for all He has done, and all He will continue to do.
