In Hindu tradition there is huge significance for the marriage ceremony of God andGoddess. Marriage is a sacred ceremony; the unification of man and woman; the twoforces giving meaning to beginning of new life. It is said in scriptures that without thepresence of woman there is little meaning to the life of a man. Lord Vishnu also says thatwithout His wife Maha Lakshmi He is incomplete. Lord Shiva appeared as ArdhaNareeshwara (Half woman and half man) to emphasize the importance of woman
The marriage of God and Goddess is Two Powers coming together to create an ImmensePower. The word kalyanam (marriage) means well-being. It is a sacred activity that is donefor the well-being of others. It is said in the scriptures that for the well-being of theuniverse, people, and all the entities of creation, kalyanam (marriage) of God andGoddess must be performed. Since God is our father and Goddess is our mother, they willshower blessings on devotees every time they are worshipped, their names chanted andtheir marriage is performed.
On the other hand, God is the only Man (Purusha) and everyone else is a woman.Everyone must be desirous of marrying Him spiritually. That means winning the heart ofGod and becoming dearer to Him. Lord Vishnu says that His devotees are dearer to Him,and He can only be bound by His devotees. One can win the heart of God only bysurrendering oneself to Him, love Him with utmost sincerity, worship Him, chant His name, dream of Him. Kalyanam (marriage) of God and Goddess is a reminder for us of our goal -getting married to God with devotion, juts like 16000 gopikas (cowgirls) were married to Lord Krishna.

Very Good Morning Everyone,

Mahashivaratri is celebrated before the day of Amavasya in the month of Magha, according to Hindu Panchang. This year, it falls on the 8th of March which is tomorrow. The word Mahashivaratri contains three components - Maha + Shiva + Ratri, which means The Very Auspicious Night. How does this day become more auspicious?

The story is told in Skanda Purana. There was a Kirata(hunter) who was cruel, merciless and bad. One day he was waiting to hunt a wild boar by sitting on the Indian Bael tree. He waited for day and night, but couldn鈥檛 get any prey. During that time, he used to fall Bael leaves under the tree where there was Shiva Linga. That Linga got offered. The entire night he fully focused on only hunting there were no other thoughts in his mind. This concentrated mind and offering of Bael tree leaves to the Lord Shiva, made him happy. Lord Shiva sparked the highest philosophical wisdom in the hunter. That鈥檚 how Hunter turned into an auspicious man. This kind of incident happened with many other people & insects either, who all turned into great men eventually. That鈥檚 why this night is considered a Very Auspicious Night. It is like a proper understanding of the question, gives us an answer, the acknowledgement of the problem gives us a solution and, similarly the realization of Shivatattva (the highest philosophy of Shiva)makes a person auspicious and great.

The hunter-worshipped indirectly benefited such a lot. If someone worships Lord Shiva consciously what is to be said about the benefit? We all celebrate Mahashivaratri at the temple at 6:00 PM on Friday by worshipping lord shiva with Panchamruta Abhisheka, Kshirabhisheka, Archana and Recitation of his Panchakshari Mantra. We all are invited to the celebration. Our participation will create mass energy and do good for all.

The Schedule of the Mahashivaratri Pooja:

6:00 - 6:30 PM Pooja & Panchamrita Abhishek
6:30 - 7:10 PM - Kshirabhishek from devotees
7:10 - 7:30 PM - Decoration for God
7:30 - 7:45 PM - Archana
7:45 - 7:55 PM - Mantra Japa (Recitation of Panchakshari Mantra)
7:55 - Aarati & Dinner

Request to devotees specially who come to IACCT for cooking using back door.
People who use brick to keep back door open during their whole stay. Please avoid this practice for two reasons
1. Small animals lilke mice, squirrels 馃惪get in to the building
2. When Heating or A/C is on, it wastes the energy.

Your cooperation will be appreciated. Thanks
