Identity Check: Credentials of a Christ-Follower
When Jesus calls us, He issues new credentials. Like a hospital ID granting access, our identity in Christ authorizes us to live as His representatives. This isn’t about titles or business cards, but surrendered allegiance. A follower’s credentials are stamped in repentance, marked by the blood of Jesus, and verified through daily obedience. Without these, we’re just religious tourists carrying a pocket-sized Jesus. The world recognizes fake ID’s—authentic faith bears the watermark of sacrificial love. [18:18]
"A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another." (John 13:34–35, ESV)
Reflection: What specific situation today will test whether your actions align with your “credentials” as a Christ-follower? How might your choices reveal whose authority you’re truly under?
