📰 EDITION 5 | The Galilean Gazette |

⬅️ PREVIOUSLY IN THE GAZETTE: Jesus stilled a storm on the Sea of Galilee with a word, leaving His disciples more awestruck - and more confused - than ever. 'Who is this,' they asked, 'that even the wind and the sea obey Him?'

➡️ THIS WEEK: Three dramatic encounters in one breathless chapter: a man so violently demon-possessed he cannot be chained is completely restored; a woman who has suffered for twelve years is healed by simply touching Jesus' cloak; and a twelve-year-old girl, pronounced dead, is raised by the hand of Jesus.

📖 Mark, Chapter 5

>Dead Girl Raised;
>Bleeding Woman Healed

Three dramatic encounters in one
breathless dispatch

By Staff Reporter · Decapolis & Capernaum

In Gentile territory, Jesus encounters a man so violently possessed he cannot be chained. A legion of demons, thousands, beg not to be destroyed and are sent into a herd of pigs that rushes into the sea. The man is found clothed and in his right mind. Returning across the lake, a synagogue ruler named Jairus begs Jesus to heal his dying daughter. En route, a woman suffering twelve years of
hemorrhage touches Jesus' garment in faith and is instantly healed. Word arrives that Jairus' daughter has died. Jesus continues anyway. "The child is not dead but sleeping," He tells the mourners. He takes her by the hand, she rises.

✦ No case is too far gone. No situation is beyond His reach.

➡️ THIS WEEK: Jesus climbs into a boat offshore and teaches the crowd in parables — seeds and soil, hidden lamps, mustard seeds. The kingdom of God, He says, grows quietly but inevitably. That evening, crossing the sea, a violent storm erupts. The disciples panic. Jesus sleeps.
📖 Mark, Chapter 4
Teacher Addresses Thousands in Parables; Later Stills Storm With a Word.

Farmland analogies explain the kingdom, then nature itself obeys

BY STAFF REPORTER · SEA OF GALILEE

Seated in a boat offshore to manage the crowd, Jesus delivers His famous parable of the sower, seed falling on four kinds of ground, representing four kinds of reception. Private explanations follow for the Twelve. More parables follow about hidden lamps and mustard seeds: the kingdom grows quietly but inevitably.
That evening, crossing the sea, a violent storm threatens to capsize the boat. The disciples, terrified, wake Jesus who is sleeping in the stern. He rebukes the wind and waves, and a great calm falls. "Who then is this," the disciples ask one another, "that even the wind and the sea obey him?"
Read along in your Bible, share with a friend, and come back next Wednesday for Chapter 5! 🙏
