The Most Holy Name of Mary | September 12

Today, the Church honors the Most Holy Name of Mary, the name of the woman who gave her complete “yes” to God and became the Mother of our Savior.

The name of Mary reminds us of her humility, obedience, purity, courage, and unwavering trust in God. Throughout her life, from the Annunciation to the foot of the Cross, Mary continually pointed beyond herself and toward her Son, Jesus. Her life teaches us that true discipleship begins with surrender: “Let it be done to me according to your word.”

When we call upon Mary, we ask the Mother of Christ to pray for us and lead us closer to her Son. In moments of uncertainty, temptation, sorrow, or fear, may her holy name remind us that we have a Mother who continually intercedes for us.

Today, let us honor Mary not only with our words, but by imitating her faith and allowing our own lives to proclaim her beautiful response to God: “Yes.”

Most Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us and lead us always to Jesus!

September 11 — We Remember

Today marks the 25th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, a day forever etched in the hearts of our nation. Twenty-five years later, we pause to remember the nearly 3,000 lives lost, their families and loved ones, and all whose lives were forever changed by the events of that day.

We also remember with gratitude the first responders, firefighters, police officers, emergency personnel, members of our military, clergy, and ordinary citizens who responded with extraordinary courage and selflessness in the midst of tragedy.

As Catholics, we turn to Christ in prayer. We pray for the souls of all who died, for those who continue to carry the wounds of that day, and for all who work for peace in our world. May we never forget the unity, compassion, and willingness to serve one another that emerged during those difficult days.

Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May their souls, and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.

We remember. We pray. We will never forget.

Catholic Tots is Returning!

Catholic Tots returns Friday, September 18 from 10:00–11:00 AM!

Our Pray & Play Ministry is designed for parents and guardians to come together in fellowship with other Catholic families while helping their little ones begin to discover the joy of our Catholic faith.

Catholic Tots is for families with children ages 5 and under and will meet twice a month on Friday mornings.

Each gathering will include fun, faith-filled activities such as:
* Music & movement
* Storytime
* Crafts
* Simple Catholic lessons & prayer
* Free play & fellowship
…and more!

At Catholic Tots, parents and guardians are an important part of the experience, leading their children by example and helping plant those first little seeds of love for Jesus and His Church.

Come pray, play, learn, and grow with us! We can't wait to welcome our littlest parishioners and their families back to Catholic Tots!

Memorial of St. Peter Claver | September 9

Today the Church celebrates St. Peter Claver, a Jesuit priest who dedicated his life to serving enslaved Africans arriving in Cartagena, Colombia. In a time when many people ignored their suffering and denied their dignity, St. Peter Claver chose to meet them with compassion, care, and the love of Christ.

He spent decades ministering to those who had endured terrible conditions, bringing food, medicine, comfort, and, above all, the message that they were beloved children of God. He famously described himself as the “slave of the Africans forever,” committing his priesthood to serving those whom society had cast aside.

St. Peter Claver challenges us to ask: Do we recognize Christ in those who are suffering, forgotten, or treated as though they do not matter? Our faith calls us not simply to notice injustice and suffering but to respond with love, defending the God-given dignity of every human person.

May St. Peter Claver intercede for us, that we may have hearts willing to serve, courage to stand for the dignity of others, and eyes that recognize the face of Christ in every person we encounter.

Happy Birthday, Momma Mary!

Today, September 8, the Church joyfully celebrates the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary—the birthday of the woman God chose to be the Mother of our Savior!

Mary’s birth was a beautiful part of God’s plan of salvation. Through her humble “yes” to the Lord, she would one day welcome Jesus into the world and lead all of us closer to Him.

On her birthday, may we honor our Blessed Mother by asking her to help us imitate her faith, humility, trust, and love for God.

Momma Mary, pray for us and lead us always to your Son!

Happy Birthday, Blessed Mother! We love you!

Happy Labor Day!

Today, as we celebrate Labor Day, we give thanks to God for the gift of work and for all those whose daily labor serves our families, our communities, and one another.

Our Catholic faith reminds us that work is more than simply what we do—it can be a way in which we participate in God’s work of creation and use the gifts and talents He has entrusted to us. Whether our work takes place in an office, a classroom, a hospital, a jobsite, our parish, or within our homes and families, even the ordinary tasks of each day can be offered to God.

Today, let us pray for all workers, for those seeking employment, for those who are retired after many years of service, and for those whose work often goes unseen or unrecognized. May every person be treated with dignity, fairness, and respect.

May the Lord bless the work of our hands, grant us true rest, and help us use our gifts in service to Him and to one another.
