PORT ROYAL LUTHERAN CHURCH
2026 CHURCH FAIR STAND SCHEDULE & PRICES
JUNIATA COUNTY FAIR (Port Royal, PA)

This posting includes the church fair stand schedule, a sampling of prices, the stand's rich history, and an opportunity to help during fair week. Please click on 'See more' for more detailed info. Added information (i.e. menu, stand history, etc.) is also attached to this posted message.

IMPORTANT NOTE: While the stand opens at 11 AM, the closing time could occur earlier than the listed 7:00 PM time for a very good reason. While considerable planning goes into preparation of all offered food, the stand will occasionally close at an earlier time due to the TREMENDOUS SUPPORT of our local community members and fairgoers. We are blessed to have many hungry supporters.

SHARING A BIT OF HISTORY . . .

The PRLC Fair Stand was started in 1930 by the Ladies Sunday School Class and in 1948, it was taken over as an annual church project. While the original stand’s menu included only soup & sandwiches, the food choices eventually expanded to include full home-style dinners and homemade pies.

200 turkeys, 200+ lbs of beef, and 45 hams are cooked to serve approximately 6,000 total meals at the PR Lutheran Church fair stand; those meals include the always popular chicken pie meals with 600 to 650+ chicken pies being served on Wednesday. Approximately 60 cooked chickens allow for plenty of meat for the chicken pies and chicken corn soup. Also, church members bake about 200 pies and approximately 400 dozen or 4,800 ears of fresh sweet corn are processed to add the delicious corn to the meals. In addition, over 1,100 loaves of bread are crumbed for filling that is served with the assorted meals.

We are truly grateful for the countless folks who have stopped by the stand throughout the past 95 years. Our hope is that everyone enjoys the plates of food, bowls of soup, and slices of pie.

NOTICE REGARDING TOMORROW'S PARISH WORSHIP SERVICES . . .

After hearing from PRLC & St. Paul's Council Presidents Jim Grove & Mark Partner, respectively, I am sharing details regarding tomorrow morning's (Sunday, Feb. 8th) Port Royal Lutheran Parish worship services.

10:30 AM SERVICE WILL STILL BE HELD AT PRLC - While I will be leading the 10:30 AM Port Royal Lutheran Church worship service, Lowell Kratzer will be providing the children's message, Gospel, & sermon. Also, the church band will be meeting at 9:30 AM for rehearsal and then playing at tomorrow morning's service.

9:00 AM SERVICE IS CANCELLED - Due to the icy conditions at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, extreme frigid temperatures, dangerous wind chills, and high winds, the decision has been made to CANCEL worship service at Nook for tomorrow morning. St. Paul's members are cordially invited to attend the 10:30 AM service at PRLC.

Regardless of whether or not you choose to bundle up and brave the chilly temperatures to attend the 10:30 AM PRLC worship service, be safe as all of us look forward to warmer days.

Respectfully,

Kevin Cunningham

THE WINTER ROSE - Please scroll down for the 'YouTube video' link.

I am pleased to be able to share this YouTube video of the Community Christmas Cantata public performance that was presented Sunday, Dec. 14th at the Free Spring Church of the Brethren. While the strong majority of the volunteer Community Chorus members are residents of Juniata County, PA, a few chorus members traveled from surrounding areas to be involved with this annual Christmas cantata experience. All are welcome!

Sincere appreciation is extended to St. Stephen's Evangelical Lutheran Church member Jeff Hart for videotaping the public performance and then taking time to create this YouTube video.

I hope that everyone is enjoying a wonderful Christmas Season!
