Devotional day 1
Thankfulness
Psalm 139:5-6; 14
5 You have enclosed me behind and before,
And laid Your hand upon me.
6 Such knowledge is too wonderful for me;
It is too high, I cannot attain to it.
14 I will give thanks to You, for [a]I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Wonderful are Your works,
And my soul knows it very well.
These verses cause us to thank God for not only always being there for us but also for the intricate ways that He has made us. Looking deeper into these particular verses the psalmist is trying to wrap his mind around how God has made us and planned every detail our lives, nothing is without purpose. First God lets us know that we are worth it by not just speaking us into existence He formed us from the dirt and breathed His breathe into us giving us life. Now I know that pertains to Adam and Eve, but I believe God is even more intimate with us now. He took one day to make Adam and Eve but with us He spends 9 months molding us, shaping us, and forming us into a creature like nothing else that was ever made or that will ever be made. He did all that because of His great love for us. This same God has been faithful in the past to bring you to this point whether it was through testing/trails or through times of blessing;
- The trail or time of testing was used to humble us and help us to realize know we need Him to make it through, and causing us to lean and trust in Him more and not on our understanding
- The blessing was used to test our heart to see if we would praise the blessing or the one who gave it.
God has also fought every battle that we will face in the future and has given us victory. All we have to do is walk in it while clinging to Him. More than that God is with us now to speak to us and to walk us through whatever we may face and give us comfort. This part blows my mind because I already have the victory over everthing because of Him, He could have said I have done it for you just walk it out but no, He comes next to us coaching us, encouraging us, motivating us, and also carrying us when it becomes to much. This type of love as the psalmist says "is too high, we cannot attain it" all we can do is thank Him for it. So lets give thanks today because of the love that He has shown us in creating us, for what He has done for us, what He will do for us, and for what He is doing now.
