To our Gulfview Family. In the 45 years of our existence as a church, we have had the honor and privilege of walking with some pretty amazing people who have faithfully served the Lord with their lives and have faithfully attended our church. One such amazing couple was Ron & Phylis Manus. Phylis passed away in 2016 and Ron too has now officially entered the presence of His Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, just a few days ago on March 27th. Ron and Phylis served the Lord faithfully as missionaries to northern Peru. They ministered to an unreached people group called the Urarina Tribe, located in the Amazon Rainforest. In 1959, Ron and Phylis would begin their adventure in Peru. They would spend much of their missionary life creating relationships and sharing the hope of Jesus with an unreached tribe who had never before heard His name. They first of all had to learn the language of the Urarina people and then create a written version of that language for the first time. It is a language unrelated to any other language on earth. Then began the dream of translating the Bible into the language of the Urarina people. In 2007, after many years of hard work and dedication, they finished the entire New Testament. Interestingly enough, or should I say in divine circumstances, the week prior to Ron's passing, the much awaited third printing of the Urarina Bible had finally arrived in Peru. The church had completely run out of Bibles and were anxious to receive a new batch. Ron had moved to Michigan many years ago to be with his family who loved and cared for his so well. Although we miss Ron in our presence today, we have hope because we know He is in the Lord's presence today. 1 Thessalonians 4:13 tells us that as followers of Jesus, we do not grieve like the rest of the world grieves who has no hope, because we have hope. Hope in the risen Jesus who has defeated death once and for all which gives us the promise of eternal life. And so in these moments, we lean on the truths of God's Word. The written Word of God that Ron and Phylis spent most of their life studying and translating into an unknown language. I am reminded of Psalm 119. A passage of Scripture devoted to reflecting on the powerful truth and importance of God's Word in the lives of His people. One key verse is, verse 105. "Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path." Another verse that helps us understand the message of Psalm 119 is verse 72. "The law from your mouth is more precious to me
than thousands of pieces of silver and gold." Ron and Phylis, followed so closely to Jesus, sacrificed much of their life to sharing His gospel, and believed that His Word was more precious than silver and gold. We will miss them both. Please continue to pray for the family as they each go through this difficult time. For a complete obituary of Ron's life, you may follow the link below.

Just a reminder to our amazing Gulfview Family! Tonight, Wednesday April 8th, at 6:00PM is our Annual Business Mtg. We believe meetings shouldn't be all about numbers, but about all that God is doing in our family and community. Come reflect on the goodness of God with us and celebrate all that He has done and is doing! Hope to see you tonight!

We praise the Lord for all that He is doing in the lives of our church family. We celebrate with those 10 who made a public profession of their faith. Each one tells a different story but each one saved by the same Savior. Thank you Jesus for lives transformed!

Dear Gulfview Family. Our long time friend, Pastor Bud Voreland, passed away today, February 19th. He has no doubt arrived safely in the arms of His Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. For those of you who do not know, Pastor Bud was an associate pastor here at Gulfview Grace for many years, when our founding Pastor Jim Poyner was leading. Bud was loved by so many and he faithfully served his church family that he loved so well. When his health started declining, Bud and his wife Cookie moved to New Jersey to be closer to some of their family. Their son Paul Voreland still attends here at Gulfview. Although today we grieve the loss of his physical presence, we rejoice that he is present with the Lord. As the apostle Paul says, to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. Please continue to pray for the entire family as they go through the grieving process.

Hi Gulfview Family, our Food Pantry is low on canned goods. If you are able to pick up extra on your next grocery trip and help us serve our Pasco community with your canned good donations we would greatly appreciate it!

UPDATE: Last Tuesday, a violent militant group in Nigeria abducted a woman from the Biu Grace Brethren Church along with seven other passengers while they were traveling by bus. Four of the passengers were freed that day, while four young women were taken into the bush for interrogation. Two of them were released after questioning, but our sister in Christ (pictured) and her friend remain in captivity because they courageously refused to deny Jesus. Please continue interceding for them, asking God to protect these young women and secure their release for His glory.

Gulfview Family. As we are challenging ourselves in the new year to be people who are committed to faithful prayer, we would like to share a prayer request with you. Our Encompass World Partners Missions agency sent us this request today. Please join us in praying for this sister in Christ who is a part of our family of churches.

“Nigerian Church Member Kidnapped
Last Tuesday. A dear sister in Christ from the Grace Brethren Church in Biu, Nigeria, was taken captive while traveling on a bus. The violent militant group Boko Haram abducted her along with many other passengers, and their fate is now uncertain. We ask you to join us in prayer—pleading with God to surround this woman and all who were taken with Christ’s protection, to comfort their hearts, and to bring them home safely.”
