Good evening, ladies and gentlemen of FaithWorks Community Church. I would like to touch base with you for a moment on some of the changes we are in as a church.
As many of you already know, the leadership of FaithWorks Community Church has made the decision to merge forces with Crossway Church in Port Orchard. Crossway has experienced some setbacks resulting from the pandemic, just as we have over the past two years. Joining together strengthens our ability as a unified church in building the Kingdom the way He has called us.
With this transition, we are bringing FaithWorks Community Church to an end as an independent church. As we close FaithWorks, we are closing down accounts that were necessary for our ability to function as a church. The largest of these is our licensing agreement with CCLI. This license gave us permission to sing copyrighted music during service and stream our worship online to Facebook. Our license expires at the end of this month. The directive we have received from CCLI is to remove all content containing licensed worship music from our page.
Having a CCLI license is like having a driver’s license but for streaming worship music. When you have your driver’s license, you drive your car all over town, and out into the great beyond. But, when you let your license expire and you don’t renew it, you have to stop driving if you don’t want to break the law and pay a lot of fines. A CCLI license is sort of the same thing because when we have the proper license, we can broadcast our services all over the internet. But without that active license, we are running the risk of getting into trouble with copyright laws.
The main point of tonight’s message is that on August 31st, all of our content as part of FaithWorks is coming off Facebook. We do have the ability to keep copies of our services on hand for historical preservation. If there is any video or graphic you would like a copy of, please let Pastor David, Terri, or Sarah and Dale Webb know. We will each have a copy available to help you.
Don’t forget, Crossway Church meets at 2 pm on Sundays at the First Christian Church in Port Orchard. Pastor Erik has been discussing the Psalms this summer. Come check out what he is going to speak on this fall.
We look forward to seeing you there!
