Why do we sometimes repent—and then find ourselves committing the same sin again?
This Sabbath we will continue Stopping The Cycle Of Sinning — Part 2.
We are going to look more closely at the difference between being sorry for sin and actually turning from it. Scripture gives us a much deeper picture through the Hebrew concept of teshuvah (תְּשׁוּבָה)—returning to God and changing direction.
SIN → REGRET → FORGIVENESS → SIN AGAIN
Does that cycle sound familiar?
There is a difference between repeatedly asking for forgiveness and learning how to break the cycle.
Break free. Return. Walk in His way.

This Sabbath we will continue Stopping The Cycle Of Sinning — Part 2.

Why Do We Keep Returning to the Same Sin?

Many believers sincerely repent. They are sorry for what they have done. They ask God for forgiveness and genuinely intend not to do it again.

And yet, sometime later, they find themselves struggling with the same thing.

Why?

Last Sabbath we began looking at the difference between our common understanding of repentance and the Hebraic concept of teshuvah (תְּשׁוּבָה)—returning to God and changing the direction in which we are walking.

This Sabbath we will continue with Part 2 of Stopping the Cycle of Sinning.

We will go deeper into how we can move beyond repeatedly regretting sin and begin experiencing genuine change in our walk with God.

Join us live this Sabbath (Saturday) at approximately 11:30 AM Eastern.

Why do people sincerely repent of the same sin over and over again—and still find themselves doing it again?

Many believers truly love God. They are genuinely sorry when they sin. They ask God to forgive them and determine that they will never do it again. Yet, sometime later, they find themselves right back in the same cycle.

Perhaps the problem is that we have learned to think of repentance primarily as feeling sorry and asking forgiveness, while the biblical Hebraic concept of teshuvah (תשובה) goes much further. Teshuvah means return—a return to God that involves a change of direction.

In Stopping the Cycle of Sinning (Part 1), we begin examining how we can move beyond the cycle of sin → regret → forgiveness → sin again and discover the biblical pathway toward genuine change.
