We believe that all persons are called to exercise their various gifts for ministry through their baptism. Paul states in I Corinthians 12:7, "To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good." Also, in Ephesians 4:11-13, Paul writes: "The gifts he gave were that some would be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, some pastors and teachers to equip the saints for the wor

Some have asked why this page has yet to be “taken down,” as St. Paul’s closed as an active congregation in 2014. The reason is simple - closing the Church didn’t close our memories, transferring our remaining membership to Grace didn’t mean we transferred or threw out the impact our congregation had. In June, I asked for input on this, and former members of our congregation resounded with their agreement it should remain, if possible.

Why you ask?

The “why” is it is worth continuing to honor our roughly 150 year heritage, and so you’ll see the slight modification of adding the word “historical” to our title. If you have historical photos, memories or just want to look back to this page and remember the good works done here, please do so.

God Bless -

Hello -

I was contacted not too long ago by former members of the church/ current member of the Archdiocese, who have asked if I would remove the page. I have left it here to date to honor the 177 + year history of the church - which I feel is significant, and shouldn't be simply wiped off the face of the earth because it was merged into Grace Church. To be fair, however, I would like to have a consensus of those who follow this page - if the a majority of the feeling is that it should be removed, I will do so.

Sincerely,

We thought our former church members would like to know that three of the original St. Paul's windows (the ones that were in St. Anne's Chapel) that had been moved to the Church in 1959 have been reinstalled in a new room at Grace Episcopal. These were the three windows you would have seen walking down the hallway on your right if you were leaving the main church. The remainder of the original windows stayed with the building when it was sold, as a way to honor our time there.

“We are closed,” said the Rev. Bob Diehl. He and the Rev. Shirley Seely were the two priests at St. Paul’s. “Our ecclesiastical corporation will be dissolved Aug. 9, which was the day of our last service there.”

Sadly, after a lengthy period of negotiations, the congregation of St. Paul's has decided it's best to close our doors after 139 years of service to the Port Huron area.

This was not an easy decision, and as noted in the letter below, many of us feel as though we have been living under a cloud since a purchase offer was received for St. Paul's earlier this year for the church's property. Our current congregation will, in essence, be going back to its roots, as our Church began in 1876 as an off-shoot of Grace Episcopal Church, designed to serve the then village of Fort Gratiot. We wish to thank everyone who has supported us through the years, and hope that they understand that we did this with the best intentions of all involved.

Thank you and God Bless.
