Blue Water Area Rescue Mission

Blue Water Area Rescue Mission An overnight warming shelter for St. Clair County's homeless men. Doors open at 5:30 pm daily for intake.

Those in need of shelter are encouraged to call 810-824-3244 to determine eligibility. Blue Water Area Rescue Mission exists to lead people to transformed lives in Christ thereby alleviating homelessness in the Blue Water Area, one life at a time. We believe that a saving knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ is the basis for bringing people to dependence upon God and interdependence within society.

I’ve got to say—we were blown away by Girl Scout Troop 77610, who showed up and showed out with backpacks packed for our neighbors in need. 🎒 Their generosity is a beautiful reminder of how powerful a child’s simple faith and love can be.

They didn’t just drop off supplies; they noticed people who are often forgotten and responded with compassion—a gentle nudge for all of us to keep stepping in and caring for those on the margins. 🙌🏾

To Troop 77610 and your leaders: 🫡 thank you for shining so brightly and blessing the men at BWARM and our neighbors in need. 💛 If their kindness stirs something in you, there are so many ways to join in—praying for our guests, sponsoring a bed, or volunteering your time to help keep this ministry moving forward.

And if you spot Troop 77610 out selling cookies this year, you already know—they’re the real deal. 🍪

“Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.” – Matthew 25:40

On this Memorial Day, we pause to honor those who laid down their lives for others—and we’re also reminded of the quiet, daily service happening right here in our community. 🫡

At BWARM, it takes a whole community to care for our neighbors in need. As a non‑governmental ministry, we rely on God working through volunteers, staff, churches, businesses, and donors—people who give time, prayer, finances, and in‑kind gifts so men without much can find safety, stability, and hope.

To every volunteer, team member, and supporter serving on the “front lines” with us for men who are often forgotten or overlooked: thank you. Your faithfulness behind the scenes is a living picture of loving your neighbor. 💙

Talk about grace… 🙌🏾

Barry was down and out when one of our team members met him and told him about the Blue Water Area Rescue Mission. He showed up, but those first couple of stays were short and rocky. This time, something was different—he found hope, community, support, and a new kind of joy that kept him coming back and moving forward.

As Barry leaned in, we watched him grow. He started to shine as an encourager and chose better things. Now, you’d rarely see him without a fresh hat, his bike shining, and a smile that lights up the room. ✨️

Now Barry has keys to his own place. He’s got a beautiful apartment with a view, new appliances, and a real fresh start. Barry talks about how much he’s grown at BWARM and how the love and support he’s received—and also given back—is a living picture of what transformation can look like.

We believe God created every person with value and purpose, and Barry is a testimony of that. Barry, we’re proud of you—not just for surviving, but for thriving. Many more blessings to you, brother. 🌅

If you’d like to support Barry and men like him, here are a few ways you can help:

🌟Pray for Barry as he settles into his new place and keeps growing.
🌟Help with a few practical items for his new home (message us for details).
🌟Volunteer your time to serve alongside us at BWARM.
🌟Sponsor a Bed so there can be a “next Barry” moving from homelessness to housing—learn more at BWARM.net.

How phenomenal is it when a mom chooses to spend Mother’s Day serving others—and brings her kids with her to do the same? 🙌🏾

Courtney showed up at BWARM with her children, helping serve dinner and blessing our guys with Nicky D’s burgers. That’s love in action and a picture of the kind of legacy that keeps on giving.

Seeing parents raise their kids to love their neighbors, show kindness to strangers, and serve together as a family is exactly the kind of community BWARM is grateful for. Huge shoutout to moms (and dads) who are raising the next generation of servant‑hearted leaders. 💛

If you’d like to bring your kids or teens to serve with you at the mission, send us a message and we’ll help you get plugged in.

Sometimes courage looks like leaving a place you’ve grown to love, so you can step into the next right thing.

This week, our guest Thomas left BWARM to enter treatment. Thomas is a strong‑willed, hard‑working man who has spent much of his life doing things his own way. He shared that his strong independence hasn’t always served him well.

During his time at the mission, there were some tough‑love conversations, real talk about faith, and honest discussions about next steps. Out of those conversations, Thomas made the decision to walk forward in faith for his own betterment.

In his own words, “This is different. I usually leave places on bad terms. This is hard because I really appreciate y’all and the work y’all do. It makes it harder to leave.”

Before he left, Thomas shook hands, hugged staff, expressed his gratitude, and allowed us to share this part of his story with you. He was prayed for and encouraged as he stepped into this new beginning.

Walking in faith is often costly. Sometimes God’s call means leaving what feels safe for what leads to healing. That kind of sacrifice is never easy.

Please join us in praying for Thomas as he continues in treatment and takes these steps in faith.

If you’d like to help make more stories like Thomas’ possible, you can “Sponsor a Bed” and support men finding faith, hope, and a future by visiting our website: BWARM.net.

Sometimes it’s the little emergencies that remind us how much we depend on this community.

Last week, our only staff/volunteer bathroom door decided to lock itself… and we had no key. As a small nonprofit, surprises like that aren’t exactly in the budget, but we still needed our restroom back ASAP—especially for our lady staff and volunteers.

Enter Thumb Area Locks – Nick and Shane came through like heroes. They got us in, made two keys on the spot, and, after seeing the work we do, did the whole thing in kind so those dollars could stay focused on serving the men at the mission.

As Executive Director, I’m very aware that “bathroom crisis” was not on the budget line—but partners like this help us keep ministry moving.

From all of us at BWARM, thank you Nick and Shane for literally opening doors for us and for the guys we serve. Your kindness helped our team keep doing what we’re called to do. 🔑🙏🏾

If you need a locksmith, holler at Thumb Area Locks—Nick and Shane will take good care of you.

This week our case managers welcomed three new guests. Each man has a story, and today they’re looking for a new start. Each one is someone’s son, brother, or dad—and tonight, he doesn’t have to sleep outside.

As we head into Mother’s Day, would you help us be ready for the next man who walks through our doors? Becoming a Bed Sponsor provides a bed, dignity, care, and a safe place where a man can begin his next chapter with a fresh start. It’s a practical way to love your neighbor and show compassion in our community. ❤️

To learn more about how you can sponsor a bed, visit our bwarm.net or send us a message. Thank you for loving our neighbors in need.

Huge thank you to Mike Morris (Jet's Pizza 24th Street in Port Huron) for blessing our guys with some amazing Detroit-style pizza last night. 🍕

Once a month, Jet’s shows up with hot pizzas and turns dinner into something special—good food, lots of smiles, and time for the men to relax together. This time, they even got to cheer on a Pistons win over the Cavs. 🏀

Partners like Jet’s Pizza help remind our guests that they’re seen, valued, and not forgotten. We’re truly grateful for a community that loves our neighbors in need in such practical ways. 🫱🏿‍🫲🏼

And make sure y’all go show Jet’s Pizza some love for their love for our neighbors in need. 💙

Oh yeah... and go Pistons! 🐴
