Today, as a church family at Southport Baptist Church, we pause to remember with deep gratitude the men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. Their sacrifice reminds us that freedom is costly and should never be taken lightly. Most importantly, we thank God for His preserving hand upon our nation and for the freedoms we still enjoy to worship, preach the Gospel, gather openly as a church, and raise our families in the truth of His Word.

Ways We Can Pray This Memorial Day

1. Thank God for those who gave their lives
* Pray with gratitude for the courage and sacrifice of fallen servicemen and women.
* Thank the Lord for the freedoms their sacrifice helped preserve.
2. Pray for grieving families
* Ask God to comfort widows, parents, children, and loved ones who still carry the loss of those who never came home.
* Pray that Christ would be their refuge and peace.
3. Pray for active military and veterans
* Ask God to protect those currently serving.
* Pray for strength, healing, and encouragement for veterans carrying physical or emotional burdens.
4. Pray for our nation
* Ask God to bring spiritual awakening and repentance to America.
* Pray that our nation would honor righteousness and truth once again.
5. Pray for our churches
* Thank God that we still have freedom to gather, preach the Gospel, and openly proclaim Christ.
* Pray that we would use these freedoms boldly and faithfully before they are lost.
6. Pray for the Gospel to go forward
* Remember that earthly freedom is temporary, but true freedom is found in Christ alone.
* Pray for souls to be saved and for hearts to turn to the Lord Jesus.

What a blessed Memorial Day Sunday the Lord gave us at Southport Baptist Church. The fellowship throughout the day was especially sweet as God’s people gathered together in unity, encouragement, and love for one another. We thank the Lord for the friends and church family who stayed for the evening fellowship as we enjoyed food, conversation, and time together around God’s Word.

The message reminded us of the glorious liberty that every believer has in Christ — freedom not found in this world, but purchased through the death, burial, and resurrection of our Savior.

What a comfort to be reminded that in Christ we are forgiven, accepted, and eternally secure. We leave thankful for the goodness of God and the sweet fellowship He gives His people through the gospel.

Join us this Memorial Day Sunday at Southport Baptist Church for a wonderful day of worship, fellowship, and encouragement. Following our 5:00 PM evening service, we will gather together for a time of grilling and fellowship as we enjoy burgers, hot dogs, and time with our church family. Afterward, we will be watching the powerful and soul-stirring movie A Great Awakening. We encourage everyone to come and be part of this special evening as we reflect on God’s goodness, enjoy sweet Christian fellowship, and are challenged and encouraged through this moving film. Bring your family and join us for a memorable Memorial Day Sunday together!
