Wisdom from St. Teresa of Calcutta 🤍
St. Teresa’s words weren’t meant simply to inspire us. They challenge us to put our faith into action in the ordinary moments of our lives.
“Love begins at home.”
Start with the people closest to you. Be patient with your spouse. Listen to your children. Call the family member who may be lonely. Sometimes our first mission field is our own home.
“Let us always meet each other with a smile…for a smile is the beginning of love.”
Look up from your phone. Make eye contact. Smile at the cashier, your coworker, the person sitting alone or someone who may simply need to be noticed.
“It is not how much we do, but how much love we put in the action that we do.”
The dishes, the laundry, caring for a parent, making dinner, helping a neighbor…ordinary things become acts of love when we offer them to God.
“Find the poor here, right in your own home first.”
Poverty isn’t always material. Someone near you may be lonely, worried, grieving or simply longing to know that someone cares.
“Love one another as He loved us.”
Especially when it’s difficult. Forgive. Be the first to apologize. Choose kindness when irritation would be easier. Pray for the person you struggle to love.
St. Teresa showed us that we don’t have to travel across the world to begin serving Christ.
We can begin today, right where God has placed us.
St. Teresa of Calcutta, pray for us. 🙏
