From Father Clint:
So just an update on everything. So as all of you know I need a double hip replacement well while leaving a play Saturday night my left hip went out and I face planted into the cement ( don't worry my shoulder broke my fall). With that fall I thought I dislocated my shoulder because of the extreme pain and also cause of the fact I could not move my arm. So I went to the er around 11:30 pm in hopes they would pop it back into place. Well they took an x-ray and said it is broken and that I would probably have to stay the night depending upon what the on call orthopedic surgeon said. Well they had none around the area so they called one in Baton Rouge. He said I would need emergency surgery and that I was going to be rushed to Baton Rouge. After seeing the ct scan he got very nervous sounding and told them to send me home and I would have to come to Baton Rouge first thing Monday morning. He told them to wrap the arm and send me home so they did. This was around 6:30 am. I went home and first thing in morning instead of going to Baton Rouge I called an orthopedic surgeon in Opelousas. He went to look at x-ray from hospital and told me to come in that day so I did. When he saw everything he walked back into the room and looked at me and said “Father your shoulder is horrible I cannot work on it, I won't even touch it.” So he said I will send you to a specialist in Lafayette. The specialist called me within 30 minutes of me leaving the other doctor's office, which made me think it was pretty bad, and told me to be at his office at 10 am today. I went for my visit and Dr. Matthew Williams in Lafayette at LOS (this Dr only handles extreme shoulder cases), he walked in and said “it looks like someone took a sledgehammer to your shoulder. It looks like mashed potatoes.” So he said he would know more once he opened me up but it doesn't look great. He said it is all in pieces and my shoulder socket instead pointing down is pointing up. He said he may be able repair it but more then likely he would have to do a total shoulder replacement. He wants to avoid that if possible because of my age. He said that there is another extreme replacement option if need be. He said he would have taken me into surgery real soon but because I was so swollen he will not operate on me until Monday. He said if he chose to operate now it would be like opening a can of biscuits. All that would push out and he wouldn't be able to push it back in (like a can biscuit). As of right now surgery will be Monday with an overnight stay. As of recovery not sure yet. I just want to say how I touched I was when hearing of the beautiful rosary y’all did for me. I am truly humbled by your constant love you show me. I will forever be grateful to all of you. I thank all of you for your prayers, your offers of kindness, your concern, and just all the love you show me.
Love,
Fr Clint.
