THE LIFE CYCLE OF A BUTTERFLY
Metaphorically Speaking, What Stage of Life Are You In?
Butterflies go through a life cycle. A butterfly has four stages in its life cycle. Each stage is different. Each stage also has a different goal. All butterflies have "complete metamorphosis."
The First Stage: The Egg
In the first stage a girl butterfly lays eggs. A butterfly first starts out as an egg. The coolest thing about butterfly eggs, especially monarch butterfly eggs, is that if you look close enough you can actually see the tiny caterpillar growing inside of it. (A New Born-Again Believer) St John 3:3; I Pet. 1:23
The Second Stage: The Larva (Caterpillar)
The second stage is the caterpillar. A caterpillar is sometimes called larve. The caterpillar is hungry once it has hatched. While they are in this stage, all they do is eat. This is the eating and growing stage. (Daily Eating and Meditating on the Word of God and Growing in Grace) Jeremiah 15:16; Psalms 1:2-3; Matthew 5:6; 2 Peter 3:18
The Third Stage: Pupa (Chrysalis)
Stage three is the chrysalis. As soon as a caterpillar is done growing and they have reached their full length/weight, they form themselves into a pupa, also known as a chrysalis. From the outside of the pupa, it looks as if the caterpillar may just be resting, but the inside is where all of the action is. Inside of the pupa, the caterpillar is resting and also rapidly changing. It starts to look different, it then turns into a butterly. Within the chrysalis the old body parts of the caterpillar are undergoing a remarkable transformation, called ‘metamorphosis,’ to become the beautiful parts that make up the butterfly that will emerge. (Being Changed by the Spirit of God) 2 Corinthians 5:17; 2 Corinthians 3:17-18
The Fourth Stage: Adult Butterfly
In stage four, finally, when the caterpillar has done all of its forming and changing inside the pupa, the pupa opens and soon a butterfly comes out. When in the fourth and final stage of their lives, the adult butterflies main goal is to reproduce and lay eggs so the butterfly life cycle will start all over again. (Mature Christians going forth and making disciples) Isaiah 66:8; Ephesians 4:11-16; Matthew 28:19
"But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed (being transformed) into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord." 2 Cor. 3:18
