Hello All! Our Summer Slam 2026 is just a few weeks away and I wanted to share some valuable information!

For parents attending:
- Location is going to be behind Webster Community Center. We aren't sure if it is going to be the playground or on the grass lot on Murphy like it was last year. We'll let you know, and either way you'll be able to see it.
- When you arrive, you need to go to the ticket booth to receive a card with your time-slot on the card, that is your spot in line.
- Your child MUST BE PRESENT to receive shoes. I know that puts some of yall in a spot, but hopefully you can figure something out between now and August 8.
- There are A TON of other resources! Back to school vaccines, health screenings, information on area schools, assistance with tuition for parents, information on our local credit unions, and more!

For helpers:
- Please sign up for a role on our sign up genius:
https://www.signupgenius.com/go/30E0F4EABA82AA1FC1-64719874-summer #/

- If you want to donate funds to help us buy shoes, do that here:
https://micah6community.networkforgood.com/projects/225903-kids-programs

- If you'd like to donate new shoes, please drop them off at 32 Newberry in Pontiac during normal business hours. If you can't make it during work hours, I will come meet you there during weird hours, just call 248-632-4399.

Thank you to all who help make this possible and thank you to all the neighbors who trust us to serve your families. We look forward to seeing you at Summer Slam!

This past Sunday at The Neighborhood Church, we reflected on Jesus' Parable of the Sower in Matthew 13.
So often this parable is reduced to a simple message: "Be good soil." But together we explored a deeper truth. The reality is that all of us experience every kind of soil. There are seasons when we're distracted, overwhelmed by anxiety, discouraged, or struggling to put down deep roots. And there are seasons when, by God's grace, we're open to receiving the life God longs to grow within us.
The good news of the Gospel is not that we become "good soil" through sheer effort. The good news is that Jesus is the generous Sower who scatters grace with abundance. God never gives up on us. God continues to work in every part of our lives, transforming even the places that feel dry, rocky, or tangled with worry.
We closed worship by singing "Broken Vessels" a beautiful reminder that God's grace meets us exactly where we are. We don't have to have it all together before God can work in us. We simply trust the One who never stops sowing seeds of hope, healing, and new life.
We're grateful for everyone who joined us this Sunday, and we hope this song is a blessing to you this week. đź’š

Hello friends and families!
Our annual Summer Slam 2026 is going to be Saturday August 8th!

The idea is this: We want to help families eliminate one of the biggest and most stressful back-to-school expenses, Shoes! So come out on the day and have your kiddos pick out their name-brand school shoes.

A few ground rules:
1) When you arrive you'll stop by the booth and get a card with a time on it. That time is your timeslot for shoe shopping.
2) Children MUST BE PRESENT to receive shoes.
3) One pair of shoes per child.
4) Be kind and have fun!

See you August 8th!

One of our favorite traditions each summer is welcoming a new group of incredible interns to serve alongside our community.

Our interns spend their summer investing in our kids ministry, caring for neighbors, working in our community gardens, helping with outreach, and becoming an important part of life at The Neighborhood Church. We also invite each intern to share a piece of their faith journey and preach during a Sunday gathering.

This week, we had the joy of hearing from Lily Grace James, who shared a thoughtful and encouraging message from Psalm 23. She reminded us that even in seasons of transition—when life feels uncertain, when we're searching for direction, or when we feel lost or lonely—God is still our Shepherd. God walks with us, leads us, and never leaves us to face the journey alone.

Thank you, Lily Grace, for sharing your story and for reminding us of God's faithful presence. We are so grateful for the ways you're serving our church and our neighborhood this summer!

đź’š Please keep all of our summer interns in your prayers as they continue to love and serve our community.
