Not every voice speaking into your life is from God. In a world filled with competing influences, how do we know what’s true?

1 John 4:1 warns us: “Do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God.” The enemy comes disguised as wolves in sheep’s clothing - looking good on the outside but destructive within. We need spiritual discernment now more than ever.

King Solomon didn’t ask for wealth or power. He asked for “a discerning heart to distinguish between right and wrong” - and God was so pleased, He gave him wisdom beyond measure. What if we started asking the same question: “Holy Spirit, is this You?”

This Pentecost Sunday, we’re reminded that the same Spirit who fell 2,000 years ago is available to us today. He gives us the power to recognize truth from deception, to test every teaching, relationship, and influence against God’s Word. Don’t navigate this dark world alone - let the Holy Spirit be your guide.

This 40 Days of Prayer is a time to realign our trust, our thoughts, and our hearts. Prayer reminds us that our help comes from the Lord, not our own strength or plans. As we seek Him first, He reorders our lives and meets what we need.

We live in a spiritual world, influenced by far more than we can see. Not every spirit is from God, so how do we tell the difference and walk in freedom? 👀

In our new series, Spirits, we’ll start with Discerning Spirits, learning how to test spiritual influences and recognize what is truly from God. Then we’ll focus on The Holy Spirit, discovering His power, presence, and guidance for our everyday lives. Finally, we’ll address Demonic Spirits, exposing the reality of demonic influence and learning how to stand firm in the authority of Jesus. 💪

Yesterday, we began 40 Days of Prayer together as a church family. 🙌🙌

Over the last several months, we have seen God move in powerful ways at Pontiac Church. Lives are being changed, people are coming to faith in Jesus, attendance is growing, and there is a fresh sense of hunger and expectation in our church.

As we step into this next season, we do not want to move ahead without the presence and direction of God.

In Exodus 33:15, Moses said:
“If your Presence does not go with us, do not send us up from here.”

That is our prayer as a church!

From May 18 through June 26, we are setting aside intentional time to seek God together through prayer, worship, consecration, and dependence on Him. We believe God is preparing us for the future He has for Pontiac Church.

We also encourage you to bring your own personal needs, prayers, and burdens before the Lord during this season.

Please set aside focused and dedicated time each day to seek the Lord. Whether it is in the morning, during your lunch break, or before bed, we encourage every person and family to intentionally pursue God throughout these 40 days. 🙏🙏

Pastor .pontiac brought a message with a powerful reminder that prayer isn’t meant to be our last resort — it’s meant to be our first response. As we step into these next 40 days together, we’re believing for renewed faith, deeper intimacy with Jesus, and hearts fully dependent on God.

This is just the beginning. 🔥
